Mark Krueger said,

"As long as the volume is there, contaminants like iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, iron bacteria and sulfate-reducing bacteria are very easy and relatively inexpensive to remediate. We need a proactive foreign policy

Mike Mike said,

"I agree President’s Obama’s deliberate approach is a far cry from the “shoot from the hip” of the previous administration and I don’t have to rewrite history to prove that. The author always paints a negative picture and leaves out the important facts that disprove his narrative. For example, he left out the important event that got us into this mess; the Iraq War. He left out the part where Congress would not have approved of air strikes in Syria, so the administration brokered a deal with Russia and Iran to get Syria to remove all of its chemical weapons. He also forgot to mention that Prime Minister Nuri al Maliki did not want to give our troops immunity from prosecution in Iraq, so we did not leave a residual force in Iraq. A residual would not have prevented the rise of ISIS. Turkey and the Arab states have to be more proactive, not the United States. We can bomb them and provide the necessary humanitarian aid but the Iraqis, the Kurds and other countries in that region will have to provide the “boots on the ground” to retake and hold the territory. Turkey has to seal their border, where the new Islamic fighters are coming from and they need to stop buying ISIS crude oil. Saudi Arabia and Qatar needs to stop funding ISIS. In the meantime the government of Iraq has to be more inclusive and electing a new PM was a good start. " - 1 day, 4 hours ago

Family sues DeTar for medical malpractice

Wendy Patek Hughes said,

"When respiratory rate is suppressed by narcotics, anesthesia, etc. it is HYPOVENTILATION, not hyperventilation. See definitions below. hypoventilation [-ven′tilā′shən] Etymology: Gk, hypo + L, ventilare, to fan; an abnormal condition of the respiratory system that occurs when the volume of air that enters the alveoli and takes part in gas exchange is not adequate for the body's metabolic needs. It is characterized by cyanosis, polycythemia, increased PaCO2, and generalized decreased respiratory function. Hypoventilation may be caused by an uneven distribution of inspired air (as in bronchitis), obesity, neuromuscular or skeletal disease affecting the thorax, decreased response of the respiratory center to carbon dioxide, or a reduced amount of functional lung tissue, as in atelectasis, emphysema, and pleural effusion. The results of hypoventilation are hypoxia, hypercapnia, pulmonary hypertension with cor pulmonale, and respiratory acidosis. Treatment includes weight reduction in cases of obesity, artificial respiration, and possibly tracheostomy. Compare hyperventilation. See also respiratory center. (Mosby's Medical Dictionary, 8th edition. © 2009, Elsevier.) hyperventilation [-ven′tilā′shən] Etymology: Gk, hyper + ventilare, to fan; pulmonary ventilation rate greater than that metabolically necessary for gas exchange, resulting from an increased respiration rate, an increased tidal volume, or both. Hyperventilation causes an excessive intake of oxygen and elimination of carbon dioxide and may cause hyperoxygenenation. Hypocapnia and respiratory alkalosis then occur, leading to dizziness, faintness, numbness of the fingers and toes, possibly syncope, and psychomotor impairment. Causes of hyperventilation include asthma or early emphysema; increased metabolic rate caused by exercise, fever, hyperthyroidism, or infection; lesions of the central nervous system, as in cerebral thrombosis, encephalitis, head injuries, or meningitis; hypoxia or metabolic acidosis; use of hormones and drugs, such as epINEPHrine, progesterone, and salicylates; difficulties with mechanical respirators; and psychogenic factors, such as acute anxiety or pain. Compare hypoventilation. See also respiratory center. (Mosby's Medical Dictionary, 8th edition. © 2009, Elsevier.) " - 1 day, 5 hours ago

Family hopes to bury 6-year-old boy's body in Port Lavaca

Michelle Segura said,

"It's not cps's fault. They don't get to make those decisions, the Judge does. The judge is the "boss" so no matter what the cps investigator thanks or how hard they fight they end up doing what the judge orders. They don't do that job to just get paid, going into a job like that is to help save children it's completely absurd to think anyone would just go into that field of work to just get paid. My mom works for cps, wasn't on this case. I pray for the family & that precious little boy. " - 1 day, 7 hours ago

Revelations: Mark Driscoll scandal reminds us of pastors' imperfections

Richard Garcia said,

"The establishment has become corrupted, church really hasn't had anything good to say in the last decade...instead they have advocated a message of hate and intolerance as well as disregard for your neighbor..the establishment has cared more about sexual orientation and a woman's decisions over her own body as well as using their tax exempt status and ability to control masses of people to rig elections and influence government policy to suit their own needs and bolster their influence..." - 1 day, 15 hours ago

Cement truck driver runs red light, injured in three-car crash (w/video)

Donna Pridgen said,

"Before you blindly take off on green check cross traffic to make sure they stopped. In defense of any driver pulling, hauling, or carrying a load - it cannot be stopped as easily as a 4 or 6 wheel vehicle. Furthermore - depending on the weight of that 4 or 6 wheel vehicle, the roadway, and weather you can slide right into an intersection if you hit your brakes on yellow. That's why you proactively monitor you lights. And NO you do not have to be speeding to accomplish the skid." - 1 day, 16 hours ago

Family hopes to bury 6-year-old boy's body in Port Lavaca

Donna Pridgen said,

"First off my heart breaks for this innocent baby that hurt, suffered pain, and was apparently murdered. Bear with me while I get on my soap box. People are always talking about the rights of folks in jail or prison. Rights? What rights? They have air conditioning and other amenities some taxpayers do not. They should have two meals a day and do something to offset the cost of their incarceration. Yeah, yeah I know - they didn't do it. Well - there is an old saying, "if you run with dogs you might catch fleas." As far CPS, when and IF you vote do you research what and who you are voting for? Or, do you vote for someone because of oh let's say they are Democrat, Republican, Tea Party, ABC, XYZ, male, female, yellow, green, orange, or purple. Do you know what laws they voted for on the books that have tied CPS's hands? BTW - how many hours does CPS waste on malicious and false claims when they could be expediting cases and maybe (if people took the time to get educated and involved) save lives like this poor little baby's. My heart goes out to innocent family members, not only of this child but all others past and future." - 1 day, 16 hours ago
