Let the president do what he does best

Mike Mike said,

"Lol Dale said " Now let us return to slumber and pray that in two years and six months the citizens of this Land can repair the harm done to the Republic by this occupier of the office.".....That makes perfect sense give it to the party who shut down the government and lost $24 billion in economic output. Give the keys back to the party who got us into this mess. No thank you, besides unless your party makes a serious dent in the 96% of black vote who voted against you, single women in double digits,Asians and Hispanics by 72%, you are just whistling Dixie as the current polls show. Let the president do what he does best

Mike Mike said,

"John Schlembach you won't get an intelligent answer from them because it's obvious they never took the time to actually read the final report. They will give you an childish answer like take the funds out of the president's vacation. The State Dept. & Intelligence and Amb. Stevens were blamed and I will insert the exact quotes. Not to worry they will pivot as it gets closer to 2016 and lay all the Hillary's State Dept. because it's all about getting out the vote ,fundraising and trying to win in 2016. If they lose in 2016 it's over for them....Anyway from the report " The report notes that Mr. Stevens was aware of all of the intelligence reporting on Libya, including updates on the increased risks of anti-Western terrorist attacks that had prompted the C.I.A. to substantially upgrade the security at its own Benghazi facility in June 2012. At times, Mr. Stevens requested additional security personnel from the State Department in Washington. But the inquiry also found that in June 2012, around the time the threats were mounting, Mr. Stevens recommended hiring and training local Libyan guards to form security teams in Tripoli and Benghazi. The plan showed a faith in local Libyan support that proved misplaced on the night of the attack. During an Aug. 15, 2012, meeting on the deteriorating security around Benghazi that Mr. Stevens attended, a diplomat stationed there described the situation as “trending negatively,” according to a cable sent the next day and quoted in the report. A diplomatic security officer “expressed concerns with the ability to defend post in the event of a coordinated attack due to limited manpower, security measures, weapons capabilities, host nation support, and the overall size of the compound.” A C.I.A. officer at the meeting pointed out the location of approximately 10 Islamist militias and Al Qaeda training camps within Benghazi, according to the same cable. After reading the cable, Gen. Carter F. Ham, then the commander of the United States Africa Command, called Mr. Stevens to ask if the embassy in Tripoli needed additional military personnel, potentially for use in Benghazi, “but Stevens told Ham it did not,” the report said. A short time later, General Ham reiterated the offer at a meeting in Germany, and “Stevens again declined,” the report said." http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/16/world/middleeast/senate-report-finds-benghazi-attack-was-preventable.html?_r=0" - 1 hour, 42 minutes ago

Let the president do what he does best

Mike Mike said,

" Mr. Zuck I'm going to personalize this response, but I won't be lectured by someone who voted for the 2000-2008 Republicans t who created the greatest recession since the great depression by getting us into two wars, passing two tax cuts and in that same period passed a $7 trillion prescription-drug bill that was not paid for. Then in 2008 we had the financial crisis that left the incoming president with the problem of 750,000 job losses a month and a negative 9 GDP....This administration with no help from the GOP dug us out of that hole. Don't take my word for it check out today's paper section A5 with the headline "Economy may now be sturdier than before Great Recession." Don't like that? Today's financial news tells us that the US jobless rate is the lowest its has been in the last eight years. What does your Tea Party/Libertarian/Republicans have to show as their major accomplishment? ..Over ten million more people now have health insurance, Bin Laden is dead, and GM is still alive to borrow a Dem slogan. .......I'm an unabashed liberal who still stands with President Obama (41% approval), and you stand with the 7% Congress I assume....Did the president do this all by himself? Of course not, the money the White House spent was appropriated by Congress. No the bi-partisan Senate Committee did not lay the blame on President Obama for Benghazi as they didn't Ronald Reagan,George W. Bush or any president when our embassies or marine barracks have been attacked. Name one Senator on that committee who has blamed President Obama for Benghazi? It wasn't about the GOP decreasing funds for security because Libya at that time was ripe for attack and the only remedy was to evacuate every time there's a rumor of a terrorist plot. If you're going to do that was the purpose of an embassy? I'm not one of those democrats who is going to placate to the right of because I know the favor won't be returned. I will remind you that on the day of the first presidential inauguration, Representative Ryan and all his cohorts were just down the street plotting to derail this president. You have a good day." - 2 hours, 17 minutes ago

Let the president do what he does best

Mike Mike said,

"Jack, all Congressional Committees are bipartisan with the party in power having one more member of the committee. . "A long-delayed Senate Intelligence Committee report released Wednesday faulted both the State Department and the intelligence community for not preventing attacks on two outposts in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador, in 2012. The report found no evidence of the kind of political coverup that Republicans have long alleged. Much of it recounted now-familiar facts about deteriorating security conditions in Benghazi in 2012, a year after the fall of longtime dictator Moammar Gaddafi. It filled in new details about the relationship between the State Department compound and the CIA annex about a mile away, and described the concern among many intelligence specialists about the growing potency of Islamist militants in the city." http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/senate-report-attack-on-us-compound-in-benghazi-could-have-been-prevented/2014/01/15/5e197224-7de9-11e3-95c6-0a7aa80874bc_story.html The report made only one mention of Hillary Clinton...I understand the partisanship about making Benghazi the smoking gun of a failed administration but most experts who are aware of the conditions of Libya at the time, knew of how dangerous it was. That's the reason the embassy was in Tripoli and not Benghazi. To put it in perspective, our barracks in Lebanon was attacked after three days of warnings to the Reagan State Department... Did President Reagan look for those who did the bombing of? Not hardly ,we picked up and left, and that was the end of it. .....I don't want to re-fight the Benghazi saga..believe what you want." - 21 hours, 39 minutes ago

"If it was decriminalized, and allowed to be legally grown and distributed in the entire U.S., this waste of taxpayers' money, and a big part of the cartels' source of income would disappear, leaving manpower, funding, and focus, to be used for something more constructive, like say human trafficking, and basic U.S./Texas border security. We support murals, rights of property owners

Anthony Pedone said,

"The only real issue here is Sara's story that we were told to stop, and that we left only to return later, and finish is actually not the truth. What really happened was, that the artists were asked to stop, they called me, I called Burdge and then he called back and said he had worked it out, and for us to continue painting. Then the painting went on for another 6 days. At the end of the festival, Sara, who even came out to the awards ceremony of the festival and took pictures with some of the actors and directors, called me on Monday April 7th and told me we would have to paint it over, and that they only agreed to let us continue painting because the mural was getting such good press that they wanted to avoid any negative press. So I then asked her if she knew there was an article on the front page of Monday's paper (that was April 7th) and that the opportunity for bad press on this was probably not over. She said she would call back later, and when she did she told me that the Junior League would meet on April 28th and discuss whether the mural would stay or go. I didn't hear anything else about it until about 2 weeks ago when I ran into Mr. Burdge, and he said we would have to paint it over, and I said I understood, and that should have been it. Now we have rolled it out in the paper, and I continue to see how Sara continues to stand by her story that we were "told to stop, and that we came back later and finished the next day"....I just refuse to continue to pretend that that is really what happened to keep the peace. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN LIKE THAT. I fully understand that it is their right to paint over it, and we have agreed that this is what is going to happen, and although we don't like it, we have moved on, and are making arrangement to have the mural painted on a new wall, where it will be welcomed and respected and appreciated. So all of that is in order, and the feelings have subsided and the emotions are in check, and we have all come to terms with this. I have taken the "advice" from people in the community to lay low and not make a big deal about this, and to not "mess with the Junior League" but I am not going to continue to pretend like this escapade happened the way that Sara is saying it did, because it didn't. I am not trying to stir up more trouble, I don't want to have some social media battle, I just want for people to stop saying that we didn't have permission, and talking about it like we snuck back and tagged up their building. They approved for it to be there temporarily after we started and I knew that one day soon it would probably have to be painted over. All of that is acceptable-- don't like it....but we didn't sneak back over. The mural was done over a 6 - 7 day period, and everyone was in agreement that the artists were going to continue. Let's all just keep it real, and keep our heads and move on. Thanks to the advocate for the support. Thank you to Robby Burdge for all of his honesty, and for his support of the festival and our Young Filmmakers Institute and seriously thank you as well to the Junior League for all they do for the community and for their patience throughout this situation, but kids lets just stop making it out to be some act of espionage and tell it like it is. Final word. To the people that are sad it is going: So are we, but we must respect the rights of the people who own the building. Street art is beautiful because of its tragic, short life. Murals face the reality that they can be painted over in just one day, but that short life does not dictate the quality, it only makes it that much greater because it is not a piece of art that demands immortality. The artists understand that this is the reality of their art, and the fact that they pour their soul into this work knowing that it can be taken away in such a short time is part of it. It makes this work that much more beautiful, because it is humble and because it was made with the sense of urgency and necessity that great art springs from. This work has inspired conversation and opened a dialog between people. It has served its purpose, and its time has come. We have to be okay with that, because the laws are the laws, and the rules are the rules. Don't get worked up. We will make more, and we will continue to do all of this. This city has come a long way and has opened its arms up to a lot of its citizens that haven't always felt welcomed. Victoria has allowed a lot of them a forum to express themselves here, and we are grateful for the opportunity to do so. Don't let a small issue like this set us back or force a divide between groups. This is minor. Really. For those that want it down: We understand our situation and we accept your wishes. We don't want to start a war over such a small matter. We all have much bigger missions than to fight over this. To everyone: Art is beautiful in any form. I have heard talk of "fine" art, and "real" art and "graffiti" art and all of these modifying terms before that word, art, are irrelevant. It is all just art, people. It is all there to be appreciated for what it is and where it comes from. Be inspired by this, don't be mad. Recognize this issue for the great opportunity that it is for those that support it to come together and celebrate art, and celebrate the artists that create it for us to admire." - 1 day, 5 hours ago

Two escape serious injury after crash involving horse trailer

Kimberly Blackmon said,

"I'm so glad that all made it out of that ok. That could of turned out so bad. I don't think anyone that commented on here were being negative. I sure hope not. So please understand what I'm going to tell you is just to help guide you in the future. Because I'm sure you will need to pull a trailer again some day once you shake this horrible thing off. Know that when you pull a bumper pull trailer that they will do that if you go over the recommended speed. That speed is based on that trailer loaded. Not the speed limit sign. Even a much older person very experienced should not pull that type of trailer loaded more than 50 to 55 ever. You can purchase a special bar that attaches all the way across there that helps with the movement. However they do break. If your going to fast again the trailer will do that. Understand I'm not saying you were speeding. Just that those trailers do that if you go much over 55. Plus with livestock that is able to move around and shift their weight it is very risky. So thankful you and your horses are okay. Maybe in the future a small gooseneck stock trailer. They don't do that." - 1 day, 14 hours ago

Goliad city attorney resigns at council meeting

Jennifer Taylor Boggess said,

"The citizens of Goliad say they want change in the city government but apparently they really truly love the way it is because they are fighting and being extremely hurtful to the people who are trying to put the changes in motion! I don't understand how they can cry for help and beg for change to better Goliad but expect everything to stay the same!!!! Apparently they really love the completely embarrassing and humiliating front page reports in the Victoria Advocate broadcasting to everyone what a mess the city is!!!!! It's kind of like that picture you see of yourself and you aren't happy with what you see......you have two choices, start exercising and eating better to feel better about yourself or play like it will fix itself and try and forget you ever saw the picture, avoid a mirror for the rest of your life and never ever take another picture again. The people trying to make changes are not bullies, they are trying to accomplish what they were elected to do to the best of their abilities!!! What is it exactly that you think they can gain by doing what they are doing? If they wanted to get money from the city they sure wouldn't have to do all this, that has already been proven!! I say if you didn't want change then quit crying about, YOU CAN NOT HAVE CHANGE AND KEEP THINGS THE SAME BOTH AT THE SAME TIME......that is unrealistic!! Please remember that the newly elected officials have no personal motives, that's just dumb, they are trying to fix what you people have been crying about so suck it up and be patient because "Rome wasn't built in a day", and the City of Goliad is a BIG FAT MESS and it is gonna take a lot of work!!!! These people are human beings and they bleed like you and me, have compassion and Pray for strength and guidance for them, don't bad mouth them and talk behind their back because if you think you could have done better then maybe you should have run for city council and maybe you could be having all the fun you people seem to think they are having!!!!" - 1 day, 18 hours ago
