A Concert by the Mainland Chorale
& Mainland Singers of Texas City
What does it take to make a good song? What about a great song that will survive through time? A mighty song that uplifts and rejoices in praise? Come to Goliad State Park to find out! On Saturday, February 25 at 7:00 pm, visitors will be presented with a wonderful concert experience by the Mainland Chorale and the Mainland Singers. Under the direction of Dr. James Heffel and accompanied by Deb Lewis and Carol Holst, the choir will raise their voices to 'Sing a Mighty Song' inside the old chapel of Mission Espiritu Santo De Zuniga.
A diverse repertoire of both sacred and folkloric Choral Music will be performed. The haunting sound of bagpipes will echo in the historic chapel as the chorus sings a lovely arrangement of “Amazing Grace”. The centerpiece will be a performance of “The Magnificat,” by 18th century Italian composer, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. Also known as the Song of Mary or Canticle of Mary, “The Magnificat” lyrics are from the Gospel of Luke.
