Reading circle
A colleague was approached by a man who wanted her to read his novel. She declined, but said she would give me his contact information since I had been published. This brings to mind the importance of readers or a reading circle. Other people should be reading what you are writing, but these readers should include more than your wife or husband, mother, and best friend. I'm not saying don't let them read your work, but also include others who will be harsh critics. Sometimes those closest to you "love" everything that you write, and withhold criticism. So find some friends, or even strangers, who like to read and let them give your manuscript a once or twice over. And take their constructive criticism as it's intended -- to help you. It can't hurt. 0 comments from 0 users
