The Write Stuff
This blog is about writing. Not reporting or journalism, but creative writing -- poetry, short stories, novels. And not just about the finished product but how we, as writers go about the process, and the trials, tribulations, blood, sweat and tears that go along with it. I'll also talk about another process -- publishing. Finding the right literary agent or publisher, self-publishing, e-publishing, what are the options and what are the chances of breaking into print? That's about it. I am by no means a best selling novelist or have all the answers, but consider this the beginning of a dialogue among a group of people who put pen to paper (okay, finger to keyboard) to release something inside us, something that must be shared.

Dumb and dumber

Well for some reason I put my old desktop computer with the original files of the book I am working on in the BACK of the storage unit. Dumb.

Moving everything in the way was such fun. I still have bruises from trying to get to that darned thing. But I finally did.

Then the older Mac (Performa) wouldn't read the new CDs I bought to copy the files on...hmm? I put in an older CD that already had data on it I had copied before and it read it just fine.

I changed brands of CD, to the one I know it will read. Hope that helps. If not, I'll have to get someone to pull those files off my hard drive for me...dumber!

Keep writing.

Thanks for the advice...I am sure I'll find a way, just feel "less than smart" for not taking them off originally when I more or less retired that computer. I appreciate it.

You could always hook up your computer to the internet and send your files to an email account and download to anywhere.

My file cabinet is maintained by Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail.

Good luck, Sonny.

Thanks Brandon...I believe it does have USB ports, and I'll take you up on your offer.

Does it have a USB port Sonny? You could just put the files onto a thumbdrive and transfer them that way. There are some other more complicated ways, but if it has USB, use it my friend.

I even have a USB thumbdrive you could use if need to.
