Looking for cheap gas

It’s something we are all looking for- the cheapest gas prices available.

The Advocate has begun a new service for our readers posting the lowest prices found and reported by our reporters and readers on Page A1 each day. The prices are as of 5 p.m. the previous day.

Also I will blog daily about the cheapest prices I see each morning on my drive in to downtown.

We are asking for your help in reporting the lowest prices you see while you are out and about running errands or going to or from work.

Just post the price and where it is available to my blog.

As an example on a quick - or as quick as traffic would allow - trip north on Navarro during the noon hour, the only price I saw for unleaded gas was $3.49 per gallon.

The prices do not have to be just in Victoria. If you find cheaper prices in Port Lavaca or Hallettsville or anywhere else, let us know.

Look for my blog in the mornings to see where the lowest gas prices are.

I'm down in the Valley for business this week. Most stations here are getting $3.499, but every Valero station has been $3.449. Sounds like the same applies back home.

Yeah, I paid $74 dollars for 20 gallons at the STRIPES on John Stockbauer yesterday. Now I know what they mean by "when it hits ya".

Great idea Becky!  I'll let you know that at 6:30 pm today, I filled up at Tipton's Conoco on Hwy 59 N.  I paid $37.00 for just over 10 gallons of gas.  It was 3.49 a gallon!  OUCH!  Usually HEB Plus has the cheapest, but lately, it's been about the same.
