Earlier this week I stopped by Whataburger on my way home to get a snack and I experienced something that still has me shaking my head in disbelief. I was in the drive-thru lane waiting to give my order when I heard the guy in the car ahead of me order a hamburger with five - yes, FIVE patties! This guy looked fairly small and fairly young, but looks can be deceiving. When I heard “five patties” I started listening closer to make sure I was hearing what I thought was. He wanted a No. 2- double meat double cheese, plus three patties. Then I heard the clerk say “are you sure?” So by the time they finished his order, he had a triple-meat, triple-cheese burger meal with two extra patties, an order of fries and a Sprite. The clerk kept asking him if he was sure that is what he wanted and he kept saying yes. As I got my order, I asked the clerk to verify what I had heard. And she verified it - appearing to still be in shock from the order. She said that he said he was going to eat it all by himself. I can barely eat a single meat hamburger. I can’t imagine eating that big of a burger. She said it was about three inches thick with just the meat. She said the meal cost $11 and some change. I have heard of people eating challenge meals. Maybe that is what this was. Who knows? Call me a food wimp, but I like my burgers one patty and one slice of cheese at a time. If anyone knows this person, let me know if he really did eat ALL of this giant burger. Sunday was a beautiful day. A little windy, but a beautiful day. I took my first Jeep ride of the season. My brother-in-law loaned us his Jeep - and a couple of jackets- so we could go riding around after lunch. Our niece, Julie, rode in the back, Gary took the shotgun position and I got behind the wheel. We didn’t go far, but just the feeling of the wind and the cool air whipping through my hair and across my face was enough to renew my resolve to own a Jeep one day. My dream of owning a Jeep goes back almost 30 years. It has never been the most urgent item on my "must have" list, but it is moving up there fairly quickly. There is nothing glamourous about a Jeep, but it is a fun vehicle to drive whether you are on a multi-lane highway, a narrow country road, crossing a wide-open pasture or driving along the water’s edge at the beach. Who cares if your hair gets messed up - that’s what hair brushes and caps are for. Today is the perfect day to be outdoors - bright sunshine, warm temperatures, and a nice breeze. This is the perfect weather to have a Jeep or convertible to ride around the country roads or along the coast and take in the sunshine, fresh air and nice breezes. I don't have a Jeep or convertible -yet, it's in the 5-year plan- so I today rolled down the windows in my Trailblazer and enjoyed it that way. Time to get back out into the great outdoors and enjoy the great spring weather. Enjoy your day. Becky I went to the polls Tuesday and I'm glad I did. Not everyone I voted for won, but at least I voiced my opinion at the polls. I look forward to the May city/school elections and then on to the Nov.4 general election. if you voted Tuesday, good for you. If you didn't, please consider doing so in May and November. it's a great feeling and a privilege. Becky
