GabeSemenza - > Crowdsourcing -> Unhappy about your new property appraisal?
Unhappy about your new property appraisal?

Here's your chance to speak out in favor of or against your new Victoria County property appraisal.

Advocate reporter David Tewes is digging into a story about the new appraisals, and he wants to talk to folks who are either happy or unhappy about the increases or decreases.

You can contact Tewes at 361-580-6515 or dtewes@vicad.com.

You can also post your thoughts in here.

Thanks for your help.

Please keep us updated on your protest, Bighorn.

TomC and Fatboy: Your situations are equally interesting. I wonder what the methodology is. I can understand, in your situation, not wanting to provide a name.

Let us know if you have any questions -- even if it's anonomously in here -- after David Tewes' story comes out on Thursday.

I'm going down and filing a protest, and going before the board. My appraisal has gone up $17,000 in the last two years (about 15%) and 30% since I bought it in 2001. Interesting that my neighbor in the Real Estate Business has a home build about the same time as mine, but is valued at $19K less than mine. I plan on bringing to my hearing, along with listings from my neighborhood sales in the last two years.

Between this, and the rate hike coming with the Bonds passed by VISD (don't let them BS you, when the bonds are paid, taxes will have to be raised) Goliad is looking pretty good. Or maybe Weestache.....

Be thankful. Rumor has it that they are raising Commercial Property Appraisals and it is causing a stir. "Bout time! It has been years and they need to pay their fair share. Maybe now the homeowners will get a break!

I would have to say that I am happy with the appraisal, although somewhat perplexed.  Apparently, my property is the only property in a three block stretch that went down in value.  It went down about 6%.  My home is very well kept (Ok, ok..the backyard could use some help) but it was painted since the last appraisal, the front yard is maintained very well (professionally), there's been no damage or anything to the house.

I'm hesitant in providing my name lest the Appraisal District comes out and takes another gander at it.  Like I said...I'm happy, but perplexed with the appraisal.
