Are you afraid of tomorrow , Friday the 13th?

The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia.

It's a fear greater than a shyness of black cats and walking under ladders, no doubt.

Do you have a fear of Friday the 13th?

I did a story about this time last year, and the folks I interviewed associated good luck with the number 13.

This year, I'd like to talk to others about the day and the number.

In numerology, according to Wikipedia, the number 12 is considered the number of completeness, as reflected in the 12 months of the year, 12 signs of the zodiac, 12 tribes of Israel and Jesus' 12 apostles.

Thirteen is considered irregular. Thirteen people were seated at the table for the Last Supper and Jesus was crucified on a Friday.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks for your help,

Since my husband and I got married on a Friday the 13th and youngest daughter was born on a Friday the 13th, I think it's a pretty cool day.  :o)

Thirteen is the perfect number in some cultures.  The Mayans had 13 months, 13 gods, 13 heavens...  When you stand in the ancient ball court and clap twice you hear 13 echoes.

Just call me Garfield for I love Lasagne and Monday the 13ths are the days to fear for me... LOL J/K.

actually just any Monday will do.

Both my Father and Uncle were born on Friday the 13th's (Different Months and years) and both turned 13 on Friday the 13th's as well.

coincidence?

Thanks for the comments. I hit the streets earlier today to talk to people about the day. The folks I found share your beliefs that the day is is just another day.

If you know anyone who thinks differently, just let me know.

Thanks,

Gabe

Nah, nothing about numbers bother me.....Friday the 13th to me just means it's Friday and I have a 50-50 chance of it being either my off Friday or the last day of the workweek. I may be a bit baseball superstitious, but most of the common or popular superstitions, as voiced by the wayward wind, are just bunk to me.......except maybe the ladder one applies, if one is a bit clumsy, as the odds of getting a paint bath or a passenger on your back goes up with that one. I am more concerned with real science. You know, like when someone yawns, why I feel the need to, or when I read a blog or comment by the waywardwind, I start to hum the Gogi Grant 1956 version of that tune.....

I think Friday the 13th is just the day following Thursday the 12th.  I also think 666 is just the number between 665 and 667.  I don't think you break your mother's back if you step on a crack in the sidewalk.  A black cat crossing your path is sorta similar to any other four legged creature crossing your path.  You might want to watch where your step.  Numerology is for people who are goofy enough to believe that Friday the 13th is unlucky.

If you were told by the boss to do a story about this sort of stuff, it must have been a REALLY slow news day.

I like to think that it's just another day, doesn't really bother me.  My mom, who is originally from Mexico, says that Tuesday the 13th is considered bad luck over there......go figure!
