My Dad called me last night and asked if I read the news. He said “You just hit the jackpot!” What he meant was that apparently we are all going to get a nice check from the government this June and since I have 4 kids I should see about $1800 bucks from it.

Now I’m all for free money, but what is this really supposed to do to help the economy?  Wouldn’t all that money be of better use if they just shredded it and made the value of the dollar increase?

$1800 bucks is not what it was 3 years ago and if the value of the dollar went back what it was then, the money I already have would be worth a whole lot more then the kickback they are about to give.

Since I'm new to blogging I won't try and stay on topic for a while. I need to vent some anger over this whole Cowboy, Jessica Simpson, Romo thing.

First, some background. I used to be a die hard Cowboys fan in the 90s. Of course everyone was, but I really became a fan in 1993 when I moved to Dallas for 2 years and watched them Win their 2nd Superbowl. I followed them for the next few years and after the 3rd win and 3rd coach I watched them fall. I gave up somewhere in 1999 or so and changed to the Pats.

This pertains to Austin, because I hear talk on the radio every morning about Jessica and Romo and how she is to blame or he was distracted or whatever. I also heard talk today about how Jessica's father, Joe Simpson tipped off the press that they would be in Cabo and that started the big media frenzy. Some father huh.

First off, all quarterbacks usually have cheerleader type girlfriends most of their lives do they not? I'm sure Romo dated the head cheerleader in high school and wasn't distracted. I think its just an excuse. They choked and everyone should just admit it. He threw the ball to the same receiver multiple times and the guy dropped the ball. They had every chance to win and they didn't.

I won't be watching them next year. This was the year I finally turned the tube back on to watch the boys in the playoffs. I did not watch any regular season games and I thought I would finally give them a shot again. Ahh well, my mistake. I think the real reason they can't do it is the same reason the Houston Oilers didn't do it years ago when I was a kid. Bum Phillips. Wade, Phillips is the sun of Bum and carries the Houston curse with him. i think it's time for Jerry to get a new coach and just move on and start over. Romo could be good with a few more years and no curse looming over his head.

But anyway, no more football for me. Maybe I'll start watching soccer. At least then if the team chokes, the fans storm the field and beat them all up.

And so begins my entry into blogging. This assignment is part of a class I am taking at UHV online. I thought about what to write about and since most of the students do not live near me, I figured Austin would be something intersting for people to hear about. I will be relating info I hear about on the radio and from co-workers about local weird stuff in Austin each week. I will also post about my family life and all the chaos 4 kids involves and the crazy things they do from time to time.
