Aggies vs. Longhorns

Is Victoria a Longhorn town or an Aggie town?

Most complaints aimed at the Advocate sports page come from Aggies. Does this mean that there are more Aggies, or that the Aggie population is just a bunch of whiny sore losers?

Does the lack of letters from Longhorns mean there aren't any around here, or is there a large Longhorn population that is too busy with its liberal elitist snobbery to gripe about sports coverage?

I want to know what color this city bleeds as the big showdown draws near. Tell me why you love your team and why you hate the other. But try to keep it positive. For example, those Longhorns are really good at drinking their lattes with their pinky fingers up and those Aggies are really good at burning big piles of wood.

The best reponses we receive will make the Advocate's Top 10 Reasons to Hate the Longhorns/Aggies. So let us know what you think and help claim Victoria for your school.

We have 4, one just graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, whereas the other two are at Texas A&M, and UTSA, one graduated from UTI in Houston.  You don't bring up the subject of who's better.  It's all good over here.

Why would anyone even care about that wannabe school U H Houston.  It is not in Victoria. UHV is and it doesn't really have any sports teams. The Cougars are laughable. Don't even mention that school in the presents of greatness. Many are called to The University of Texas, and The University of Texas, A&M, But few are chosen;unlike UH.

Naw, not many letters from T sippers, they have most of the sports page anyway. And they are always busy patting theirselves on the back they aren't able to write.  Most of the time it is not the UT players that people are against really, it is just the fans that irritate.
   I like SEC football myself.

It's all about the 12th Man! WHOOP!
Let me say I do not hate UT I just LOVE A&M. In all seriousness I think BOTH are great schools. I just love the spirit and tradition at A&M. I do not think as a whole you will find a finer group of Young Men in the world than in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M.

I think General George S. Patton said it best "Give Me an Army of West Point Graduates and I Will Win a Battle, Give Me A Handful of Texas Aggies and I Will Win a War." I have a small photo memorial in my office to all of the A&M Soldiers who have died in this farce of a War in Iraq. It pains my heart GREATLY each time I have to add a photo to it.

Would I offend you if I said a pox on both your houses?

Considering we actually have a University of Houston campus here, you'd think fans would be able to buy Cougar sports paraphernalia somewhere in this town.
