Where are the Aggies and Longhorns?

I must admit that I'm underwhelmed by the reponse to the question of "Who owns Victoria?"

Here was just days away from the game and I'm getting nothing from the parties involved. Am I to believe that the Aggies and Longhorns of Victoria skip about hand-in-hand picking daisies and giggling at each others' witty jokes? Has the Maroon and Burnt Orange blended together into some color resembling baby sick?

It's bad enough that the UT and TAMU faithful aren't going after each other, but they also are standing by while some non-BCS conference school in Houston tries to claim the town. It's sickening.

Where is the good-natured rivalry?  I'm guessing the UT fans are still too busy making kissy faces at their Vince Young posters while those rocket scientists at A&M are taking off their shoes so they can count how many years it's been since their team mattered.

It's time to unload all of that venom. Give me your best reasons to hate the other team. The best reasons (provided any of you jellyfish can grow enough spine to talk some smack) will grace the cover of the sports section on game day.

I have been told, by several people who have no inkling of what this rivalry means (i.e., are neither a Horn or an Ag), that we are stupid idiots running around talking trash about something that no one cares about.  I am actually saddened by this opinion, because I enjoy all the ribbing and trash talking (in good fun of course)--that's part actually getting to attend one of these great universities in the great state of TEXAS (it's bigger than FRANCE!) lol.  I haven't encountered much trash talk this year, (except for from my family--Rice, TX State, UT, A&M, Baylor, Uof H...we've got 'em all) and maybe it's because the Ags are just down in the dumps due to how Fran has ruined them, and the Horns are depressed to see that half their team is in the pokey makin' license plates...it's just a thought.

Hey GigEmHorns,

Maybe the reason that you have no response was because since the accident , of the bonfire The Aggies and The Horns they seem to have become "One" .... Dont get me wrong there is still friendly fire,  but just not like it used to be. It was kinda Mind blowing to the Longhorns when you have seen  all that Maroon all over the lawn  on your front steps of the state capitol to bring each other together for the tragedy that made the State of Texas United  ..  They are now Brothers thru thick and thin.

Maybe that is why huh?

Ohh I know  something about "The Aggies"  that I think is totally unique.. they do take care of their own...

They are very brotherly...I can almost bet on it... that If there is a Job Opening anywhere ... and  there is  A  RIce  Graduate,  A University  of  Texas Graduate  and  A  Texas A&M  Graduate all Applying ... I can almost betcha , that if the boss is a Graduate of Texas A&M he will almost always pic the Aggie That is a for sure.

I have seen that more than Once. maybe twice,  ok alot!!!

HOWDY !!!

First of all I would like to say kudos to the young men and women who are able to be academically admitted to either Texas A & M University or TU  ( AKA  University of Texas.)   By far,  they will be the leaders of  our future.

Texas A & M was the first University in the state of Texas,  that being said,  they also turn out more of our fine military service men and women than any University in the nation, other than West Point , which is another University equally as hard to get into.

Aggies are a proud group with many long standing traditions dating back for generations.  Some of the many traditions at Aggieland is the annual Bonfire, Ring Dance, the 12th Man, Corps of Cadets, Muster, Silver Taps, Midnight Yell , oh yes,  Ring Dunking........and so many more.   Must we not forget the former students alumni association that is so tight knit that it is unbelievable, and all of the Aggie Mom's clubs.........and of course the Aggie Spirit,  and game day.

As it is said in the Aggie code of honor,   "An Aggie does not lie, cheat, or steal or tolerate those who do".

I think you must know my choice..... I love Texas, the greatest state in the nation........... so if you are lucky enough to be admitted into one of these Universities in Texas,  ( Texas A & M !!! ) , you are allright with me.........but I sure do prefer your address to be in College Station!

All I can say here is WHOOP!  and GIG 'EM Aggies!!!

I know some families in Victoria that have both orange and maroon blood.  I had a Pampered Chef party years ago and instead of buying plain old orange carrots I got the maroon carrots because I knew a few Aggies were coming.  I thought that was fun.....  We go to the open houses at both UT and Aggie-land.  Though I'm an alumni of neither, I like both colleges!  Speaking of T-shirts, I saw a cute idea that one family had: they took A&M and Longhorn T-shirts, cut them both in half, and sewed them back together.  One side of the shirt was maroon and the other side was orange.  Cute idea for divided families!

Since I don't care one way or the other, I found a t-shirt I enjoy wearing that says:  "IF YOU CAN"T HOOK 'EM, GIG'EM!"    Rather clever I thought.
