WHAT THE HE77 IS WRONG WITH DISNEY?!

“High School Musical” underwear for young girls have sparked outrage — because they have the words “Dive in” on them.

A British woman bought a packet of five pairs, with a “Disney-approved” design promoting the hit movie, for her seven-year-old granddaughter.

“When she put them on, myself and my daughter thought, ‘Oh my goodness.’ It is inappropriate because it is sexually suggestive,” Sue Ralph, a 57-year-old civil servant, said. “You just never know who could see that and think it was a bit too enticing for a young child to be wearing.”

Sue is demanding the $7.50 packs are removed from her local Asda supermarket in Broadstairs, Kent, where she bought them.

The underwear has also angered the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, a British children’s charity.

NSPCC said: “This is part of a worrying trend of inappropriate clothing marketed at young children.”

“The design was approved by Disney. It was completely innocent and not meant to cause offence,” Asda said in a statement.

Hmm...  I could not see the "Jump In" phrase from my cell phone so I thought I'd hop on my laptop to see what all the fuss was about only to find out I STILL cannot see the words.  Wait... I can make it out now...barely.

@pogofire - The only thing think I can think of of how it relates to the franchise is the sequel.  If you recall the cover has them "jumping in" water.  The movie was also about them on their summer vacation and did have swimming in it.  Of course it could be just like they do everything else and was cross promoting the other movie "Jump In" that Corbin Bleu stars in.  That's a stretch though, haha.

I do agree with thewaywardwind in that this is a bit stupid to be up in arms about.  It seems that this mom found something to be offended by and has taken it upon herself to pioneer a fight to have them removed from the shelf.  What is MORE of a problem is right here:

“When she put them on, myself and my daughter thought, ‘Oh my goodness’. It is inappropriate because it is sexually suggestive"

WTF!?  A SEVEN year old KNOWS that is sexually suggestive?  That little girl has more problems than some letters on her panties.  Now maybe I am behind the times, am doing a poor job of raising my kids, or just dumb, but NONE of my kids ages 12, 10, 7, and 7 would not have related that to anything inappropriate.  Heck, they would've thought it meant to jump in your underwear and go to school!  haha   I'm sure the grandma didn't see anything wrong with Vanessa Hudgens music video with some pretty risque dance moves, or the fact she has nude photos online.  No, that kind of stuff is OK to overlook.  /sarcasm
I firmly believe this because of things they've said, like while seeing something flipping the channels on "breast feeding a baby" my daughter asked why they fed baby chicken.  Or when they all got to see the latest ultrasound my son asked how they could tell it was a boy or a girl.  Sure... I have not had "the talk" with them, but I have not felt I have had the need to.  They will be ready, when they are ready.

If the girl at this age sees that as sexually suggestive, her career of choice will probably involve a pole with the most minimal of dress code.  Let kids be kids!  Sheesh!

It is not the message to other people who see it I am worried about it is the message it sends to the child.

You're joking, right.  Remember, it's UNDERWEAR.  It's not supposed to be seen.    If it's being displayed so the statement can be read, then the message being sent is stronger than anything printed on the material.

I have nieces and I can assure you, I would not want them wearing underwear bearing the statement "Dive in".  What does that even have to do with High School Musical?  Shame on you Disney!

No one is looking for something to get upset about. It is highly inappropriate for young girls to have a sexually suggestive message on underwear. "Thewaywardwind" obviously you don't have daughters or children in general.  And if you do have children and think it is ok I feel sorry for you when your teenage daughters are sexually active at a young age or pregnant. Or your sons are sexually active and getting other young girls pregnant.

Oh, good grief!  Some people are just looking for SOMETHING to be offended about.
