City championship approaches

It's time for all Victoria golfers to fine tune their game for the 2nd annual Victoria City Championship.

The 54-hole event utilizes all three Victoria courses and this year will include an added feature - a women's flight.

This year's event will be held July 18-20 with the opening round at Colony Creek Country Club, with Riverside Municipal Golf Course hosting the second round and Victoria Country Club the final round.

Entry fee for the event is $100 and is open to male and female golfers 18 years or older who reside or work in Victoria County or non-residents that are members of one of the three clubs. High school students over the age of 18 are not eligible.

Contact one of the three course to enter of obtain more information.

It's nice to see that all three golf courses are in sync about the needs of a True City Golf Championship Tournament.  For years I asked the question of all three golf courses,  "Why not host a tournament of this caliber?"  The answer was of a three-phased complicated nature which in my opinion held no merit or meaning, other than just the fact that there was a slight hint of professional jealousy.  There is no need to ask,  "Who's got the best golf course in Victoria," because in my opinion we have the best golf courses in South Texas.  We truly earn the name of  "Crossroads" when it comes to golf courses.  My compliments to the golf professionals and staff of all three golf courses in Victoria, Texas.  Joe A.
