*VOTE TODAY*
Voters in VISD District 5 have the opportunity today to make an important choice.   Our school system is in the middle of an exciting and long-overdue transformation.  I am proud to have been an important part of it during my first term in office.

I believe that, under the leadership of our present administration, we are on the right track towards improved facilities and improving what goes on inside those walls.  The board will be making important decisions regarding those facilities.  Because of sharply rising costs, I think we will have to make some hard choices, but I have articulated my approach to making those decisions: I will consider our primary mission of education first, and will choose schools and repairs over ancillary facilities.

On the inside, we have to consider new approaches to overcome problems in discipline and enhance student achievement.  To say, as does my opponent, that we simply need to enforce the policies we have is an unhelpful gloss over the facts and circumstances we face in our large and diverse district.  We need to listen to administrators and teachers and give them the tools they need to do their jobs.

I believe that I have presented the voters with specific and substantive answers to what I will do if granted another term as your representative on the VISD board.

I want to continue the work the voters sent me out to do three years ago.  I believe that I have done the job they asked me to do, and I will continue to devote my time and energy to the betterment of our school system as the important cornerstone of our social, civic and economic lives that it is.  I ask for your vote today.

Proudparent, the minutes of the school board meetings are usually available via tape within a day or two for the price of the tape.  Anyone can request it and have it for a small fee.  All of us get them all the time.  You need to get your facts on board and stop dogging rainwater.  She probably pays more taxes than you do.

Good Luck today, Tami.

I hope you will get to continue to serve what I feel is the best interests of my child and all those in VISD.We need a strong individual with no hidden agenda and you are certainly that person.

Tammy Keeling has been an impartial and fair voice on the school board for three years.  This is why her opponents supporters have been spewing such hate and lies about her.

Some members of the board would like us to get back to the status quo of the disastrous past 15 years.  They want to have a school board who concedes every issue to one person and common sense and reason have no place on such a school board.  Mr. Klimist and Jaynes have been working hard to discredit and smear Ms. Keeling during this campaign.

Do not be fooled by spindoctors.

Concerned parents of VISD students support Ms. Keeling 100%.  We have been amazed with her openness and desire to make herself available to parents and address any issues we may have concerned about.

She has worked hard to educate herself about the issues important to building a superior school system and advocating for ALL of our children.

Vote today and reelect TAmmy Keeling!

proudparent,

You comments were deleted and may also have been deleted by the moderator for misrepresenting statements by board members.  For the record, I have been concerned about the rising costs of construction, labor and the market in the state of Texas for the construction of new schools.  I have said so since February.  I was disappointed that Dr. Jaynes did not attend the final presentations on the high schools, middle school and elementary schools prior to the election in May.

If you really want to check the record please do so completely.  The board voted 7-0 to wait for another meeting to award contracts on the elementary schools.  I stand by my vote.

Again, I am for building and repairing schools first and will continue to be openly communicative with Victoria about where the district is in the bond process.

True to form, Keeling just removed both of my comments.  So let me restate:

I will NEVER support Keeling!   THANK GOD for the "power" of Mr. Klimist.  He is an educated business professional.  The board was presented the totals and asked to to just blanket approve starting the elementary schools without any presentation or explanation.  Klimist had the knowledge to ask how,  if VISD is over budget to this point, were they going to ensure the high schools are built if they are so over budget on the bond money.   Where was the plan to ensure there would be enough money to build the high schools.  There was no planprepared  to present.  Keeling and Svetlik wanted to just pass it and figure out how to get the money later.  That is not good business.   Klimist, De Los Santos, Smith and Murphy  agreed .   Only then did Keeling agree and second Klimist..  If they are going to spend my money I work hard for I want someone who has the "power" to ask the right questions.

Dr. Jaynes has stated repeatedly that he looks forward to working with Bob Moore and has never said otherwise.  Again, this is Keeling stirring trouble and animosity.

Rainwater, you could not have read or seen minutes from this meeting at this point.  The meeting was predominantly about there being no plan for the tremendous short fall on the bond.

You better believe Keeling has written or steered  the prior blogs you are reading.  My Mother always told me to never trust people who take credit for all deeds and to watch out for people who speak from two faces.

Proud Parent.  I have heard minutes of all of the school board meetings and I didnt hear anyone say there wouldnt be two high schools.  and of course with the economy like it is, we will be out of budget when the time comes.  I am an accountant and I see this daily

Did you read the article today and the comments made by Mr. Klimist, Laura Smith and Dr. DelaSantos?

Wow if all this isn't obvious I don't know what is.  Tami is doing a fantastic job, I think someone needs to run against those 3 especially that spoiled Mr. Klimist.  What kind of power play is he up to anyway.   Good for you voting Tami and for the others who supported you.  You are still our board member after all!!!!

Tammy, as much as I'm sure another election will be tiring, I'm excited that Victorians will get to really focus on the issues and how important this seat on the school board is.  You have been so gracious through the campaign not to point out the obvious motive behind Dr. Jaynes' run, but I think that most informed people are getting it.  As much as I respect him professionally, I am personally offended that he would use our kids future to settle personal scores with the Superintendent.  I hope you are given the opportunity to continue your great work for our school district, our teachers, and all of our kiddos who attend VISD (including your own).

Having voted, now we shall see which edge of Victorian's  cold hearts shows - seems most did know what is at stake (sic). Sat May 10, 2008 12:04:53 CDT Wonderful, a blog with some real useful comments for all sides concerned here in Victorialand. The best surrogate issue is sex education in VISD. Good tactics for both candidates because it divides the house clearly. Dr, Jaynes touts his connections to the Victoria 100 Club. That is as strongly "support your local sheriff" as possible. He is therefor strongly either PRO- or ANTI-(?) JBS. Tami Keeling by her comments advertises a strong "law and order" bent, an authoritarian philosophy coupled with a lack of sophistication concerning legislating and knowledge of board policy, let alone setting policy. The real division is the Doctor's profession (Victoria Women's) not his relatives' professions. Let us put this baby on the table and see how the Right Wingers can cut.
