Do enough people read this blog for me to call in a favor? Do I have what can be called “readership?”

It is a long story, and even though I love to tell them, I just want to sum this one up.

My sister has two children. One is a girl who is four years old, and the other is a boy who will be 2 years old on October. She is looking to rent at least a two-bedroom (house, trailer, apt, etc.) within the next week or so. The ideal price range would be no more than $500 a month. She has no pets, and she works two jobs, so she has reliable income.

It should be easy enough, right? If it was that easy, then I guess it would not warrant an entire blog entry. The problem is that I am her rental history. She has been my roommate until a few months before I started this blog.

Shortly before I was engaged last year, she got her own apartment. At the time, she was struggling to make it with two children by herself, so the only option was to apply for housing. After a couple of weeks, she was placed in a rather decent apartment, in a rather decent neighborhood. We aren’t talking the Ritz, but it was decent.

This is where you insert the long story. She has until October 9 to find another place to live, preferably in Victoria (because of work, gas, etc.). The major problem is the long story and I am her only other rental history. Most places that she has contacted won’t touch her because I am her only rental reference, and of course, because of the long story.

I am willing to share the long story with anyone who is interested in renting to her. Just email me with your name and number, and a good time to call. I will divulge the big ugly, so to speak.

I would like to point out that this entry is meant to be a very desperate plea for anyone who might know someone that can help. She has two children, two jobs, and she has never been in any kind of trouble (criminal, etc.). She is a good person, and even if I weren’t her sister, I would still say that. I just wish that apartment complexes and the like would consider that some people just do not have a cut and dry life story.

Bumps happen along the way, and sometimes we need someone to help us over them. So, even if you know someone who knows someone who knows someone else, just email me. October 9 is fast approaching, and if I were not honestly at a loss, then I wouldn’t have posted this.
