Do you know who your Congressman is? Do you care?

If you don't, you should start looking into it. While you are at it, see how they voted on the Housing Bill yesterday.

Did you know that when a bill is given up for a vote, it is 600-800 pages long, and sometimes much longer?

Your Congressman is supposed to read this bill and then vote on it, based on how it would affect his constituents.

Did you know that most of the time, congressman don’t read the bills that they vote on? That is their job. That is why they are there: to vote for you. Some Congressman will even admit to not reading the bills, just call them. Remember the Patriot Act?

Did you know that when the Patriot Act was up for vote, the entire document was not even available (or finished)? Your Congressman may have voted on something he couldn’t have read, because it wasn’t even there to read. Would you sign a blank contract or a blank check and hand it over, no questions asked?

Me either.

Yesterday, the House voted 272-152 on the Housing Bill. With numbers like that, it would seem as if this bill is something the American people would greatly benefit from.

If you watch the video below, Congressman Ron Paul (who actually reads every page of the bills he votes on), will be glad to explain what this bill entailed.

If you don’t want to watch the video, then just read the highlights below. Then, I would suggest calling your Congressman and asking him why he voted for this bill. Report back to me on what he says (if you can even get a comment).

When your Congressman comes up for re-election – inform yourself on the candidates. Names, celebrity endorsements, and who their Daddy was just doesn’t do it for me anymore.

Details of yesterday's housing bill by Dr. Ron Paul (taken from http://news.goldseek.com/Ro...

·         $2.5B line of credit to the Treasury (Fannie & Freddie – ‘F & F’) is now “open-ended”

·         UNLIMITED – Treasury now allowed to buy all ‘F & F’ housing securities.

·         Congress no longer involved in appropriating funds (Treasury now does)

·         National Debt Ceiling moved up $800 BILLION (buried in the bill)

·         Treasury Bills being exchanged for unwanted ‘F & F’ securities. This is the asset which “backs up our currency.” Value of these assets are depreciating

·         Treasuries have replaced gold and silver to back US Dollar

·         Solution breeds inflation and places pressure on the US Dollar

·         ANYONE who works in the Mortgage industry “will now have to be fingerprinted.”

·         All credit card transactions will now be reported to the IRS.

Upset? Call your Congressman or re-elect a new one.

The first Campaign For Liberty Group meeting for our area will be in Victoria at Chili’s at 7pm tomorrow (Wed July 16th).

The meeting is free to attend and everyone is invited to bring a friend or two (or three).

We will discuss what we feel needs to happen in the next 2 years in our county, congressional district, state, and country.

The cause is liberty. The message is freedom.

This county (and country) is at an impasse and we need to point ourselves and our neighbors in the right direction. We cannot let our elected officials continue the path that some of them are on. We must seek out people who are willing to run for various positions and then get them elected to serve the people who elected them!

If you know an elected official who would like to attend our meeting, please invite them as well. If they are willing to stand for the people and for what is right and constitutional – they are who we are looking to lead this city, county, and country.

If you stand for less taxes, smaller government and more freedom, you are not alone. Seventy percent of Victoria County and Congressional District 14 Republicans voted for Ron Paul. We are not a small minority.

The Campaign for Liberty is Congressman Paul’s next step in ensuring that the entire country starts holding their elected officials accountable, or finding new ones to take their place.

For the people, BY the people.

"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have." -Thomas Jefferson.

The Austin Police Commanders are meeting on July 8th to get themselves ready to implement a new federal program in Austin.

If you refuse a breathalyzer, the program allows the police officer to not only arrest you, but hold you down and taken a sample of your blood by force. The Austin Police Chief,

Art Acevedo, told Austin taxpayers not to worry, he does not want their money to fund this program. He is seeking money on a federal level.

The federal grant he seeks will pay to train officers to stick a person suspected of driving under the influence with a needle and possibly, forcibly draw their blood. I’ll tell you I have watched two nurses trying to take blood from my 4 year old, and it wasn’t an easy job.

How is a single police officer going to draw blood from a drunken person, who has already refused an easier task?

Acevedo told KXAN (http://www.kxan.com/global/... ), “My intent in the future is to make it so there is no such thing as a refusal…”

I admit I do not fully understand the ins and outs of what police officers do every day, and I want to express my extreme appreciation of the men and women of our city who put their life on the line to protect us, but this is ludicrous.

Don’t “peace officers” take an oath that says they will uphold the law the Constitution?

What happened to our rights? Are they going to cease telling us our rights if we are arrested as well?

What happened, America?

I didn’t give up.

I have just been really busy taking some much needed “downtime.”

I say busy because my downtime turned into “take care of your sick family” time.

I mentioned in a previous blog that on the last day of the Republican Convention in Houston, my youngest son got sick. I spent that night in the ER with both of my sons. Very exciting times…

Anyway, now it is nearly a month later and my husband, my sons, and I have all suffered through bronchitis, at different intervals. This is surprising because I haven’t been sick, not counting morning sickness, since before my 4 year old was born. Even then, I got sick about once a year.

Now that my family is feeling better, I wanted to take a little time to plug something that I work on that doesn’t have to do with politics. Yes, I have other interests, believe it or not. They may not be as pressing as the dollar crashing down above our heads or our freedoms being yanked away from us every day, but still important in their own way.

What could possibly be more important than warning my fellow Victorians of how our country will all but be destroyed because we have horrible nominees?

A new Mommy Group for Victoria!

I know, the excitement never stops here at the Blog-o-Toni.

Seriously, though, I have started a new Mommy Group for Victoria because I have talked to so many moms who wish there was a well organized and active one in town.

The group is for all Moms in the area who want to join and it isn’t just for stay at home moms. The group is open to moms of all ages and backgrounds (stay at home, work at home, work away from home, expecting, adoptive, foster, etc.). Believe it or not, some Mommy Groups have criteria you have to meet to join them, or you have to pay to join.

This group welcomes moms for free and without bias. The site has a very detailed and interactive calendar that allows you to see what is going on, and when, with one click.

My goal is to have one assistant organizer from each town that surrounds Victoria join and promote the group. Assistant organizers can add content to the calendar when needed, without the Organizers approval. This will allow for each Mommy Group in the outlying towns to have their own play dates if they don’t feel like driving to Victoria.

There is a message board that any member is allowed to post on, so we can all communicate with each other. There is also an optional email feature that allows anyone to send an email to all of the members who opt to receive group emails, at one time.

I invite all Moms in Victoria and the surrounding areas to join our group and see what there is to do! Feel free to email me with any questions you may have about the group!

As a final note, I want to add that the Mommy Group is open to Moms and Dad’s of all ages, backgrounds, and everything in between, so don’t hesitate to join!

Join here.
