Hello all! This is Wendy again, and once again I am speaking out to the parents of special needs kids here in Victoria and the surrounding counties. I have been going around and around with VISD in regards to my special needs son, and everyone I have spoken with at the Administration building keeps passing the buck to someone else. I was even denied my request to speak with the Superintendent! After all of this wild goose chase, I submitted a request to the Texas Education Agency for a Special Education Mediation. VISD is refusing to mediate. What does this say to the parents out there in the same boat as I am? What it says is this: VISD is unwilling to work with us in ensuring that our special needs kids are given the education they deserve! What it says is that VISD is trying to intimidate us into giving in to what THEY want and NOT what is in the best interest of our children! I have every intention of fighting the system. I am my son's best advocate. I am in the process of obtaining a child advocacy attorney to represent my son, and I WILL take on the beast, and I WILL be heard! Once again, if anyone is interested in standing up with me to protect the rights of the special needs kids in Victoria and the surrounding counties, then please contact me at ussaria@yahoo.com. I am hoping to have a meeting set up soon. I have a few calls out to different places to see if they are willing to let us meet in their facilities. I will send out the details once I have a place. Until then, keep fighting the good fight, and thanks for loving and believing in these very special children... Wendy Hello fellow moms and dads! My name is Wendy, and my son is just one of many special needs kids right here in Victoria. Currently, I find myself conflicting with the school system as to what is in the best interest of my child. In talking to some other parents, I have found that I am not the only one having issues in regards to my special needs child's education. I am trying to start a support group for all of the parents out there who, like me, are struggling with the school system to ensure that our children get the education they deserve. My goal is to let parents know that they aren't going through this alone. There are a lot of us with valid concerns. I am forming this group to help educate parents on childhood behavioral, mental, and physical disorders, to educate parents on ours and our kids legal rights in regards to education, to provide a venue to express our concerns and frustrations, and to organize ourselves so that we can take our concerns to the schools as a united entity, express our concerns, and offer the schools viable solutions. It is my hope that together we can effectively open the lines of communication between the parents and the schools. This group is open to anyone who believes that special needs kids deserve the best education they can get. This group is open to parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc. For anyone who is interested in helping me get this group going or who is interested in joining the group, you can contact me by e-mail at ussaria@yahoo.com or you can call 218-0048. Thanks for caring, and thank you for believing in these very special children...
Happy Singles Awareness Day (or S.A.D. for short!) to all of my fellow swinging singles here in V-Town! My name is Wendy, but my fellow singles and friends can call me Lola!
For those of you wondering, S.A.D. is a day created by myself and some very good friends. We are not necessarily anti-Valentine's; we are just tired of getting the shaft on this Cupid infested holiday designed by all of the card and candy companies catering to all of the lovey-dovey couples out there. We just feel that we shouldn't be counted out of this holiday, so we found a way to make it our own! So if there are any other singles out there who wish to stand up with us and be counted, then simply proclaim Feb. 14th YOUR Singles Awareness Day, and know that you are not alone in this town! So far, I have two new single friends joining our S.A.D. family! So, to the two ladies at the Laurent Starbucks location, I salute you! Sport those buttons proudly! I'm proud to celebrate this self-proclaimed holiday, and I welcome you all to join me! Send me a shout out! Be LOUD! Be PROUD! This is OUR S.A.D.!!!
