Cheer up Spurs fans

The San Antonio Spurs let one slip away.

Wednesday's debacle was demoralizing. It was nauseating and probably caused many to call in sick to work on Thursday. It also made some wake up with a spring in their step.

But it's not the end of the world for the Spurs loyalist amongst us.  Sure, it may be the start of the end, but it's not time to panic. Not quite yet, anyway.

San Antonio did a lot of things right in the 89-85 loss. It built a big lead and looked to be in control.

They just didn't have an answer for No. 24. The Spurs watched as Kobe Bryant came out of nowhere to have a great game. You can't really blame the Spurs for letting Bryant run loose though.

After all, who is Kobe anyway. It's not like he's the best player in the league or anything like that. Who could have seen him scoring 25 points in the second half. Well, pretty much anyone could have seen it coming, but with a player like him, it's not quite as easy to stop.

There in lies the problem for these San Antonio Spurs. They don't match up against him and he is going to remind them of that every game. The Spurs will get some wins in the series, but they let one slip away on Wednesday.

Even the biggest Spurs fan in the world would admit to that. Well, maybe not.

I stand by my original prediction: Spurs in 6. Unlike some fans, I correctly predicted the Spurs would drop Game 1. BTW, I was telling people that BEFORE I found out the Spurs were stranded in New Orleans Monday night. And unlike some local radio personalities [whose name rhymes with Mash Made], I do not believe that losing Game 1 means the end of the series. So yeah, we lost on Wednesday, but so what? It happens. You can't win every game. But the pressure is on LA. They SHOULD win the games at home. They know they had quite a bit of luck in their victory Wednesday and must play better tonight if they expect to win, cause the chances of the Spurs collapsing like that two games in a row are astronomically small. GO SPURS GO!
