Jim Bishop wrote an article about "What Black Friday means".  Mr. Bishop notes the origin was to describe the terrible conditions in crowded malls and stores on that day.  He finished the article with suggestions of how we could change this.  I do not disagree with Mr. Bishop's suggestions, I would just like to propose a few of my own.

What will happen if your child doesn't get the lastest game?  What will happen if you have to spend a few more dollars if you buy a few days later?  JCPennys, Sears, Best Buy will be there.  The question is will your family?  30 years ago my brother was killed a few days before Thanksgiving.  At a young age I learned the value of life.  Where in our society do we make a point to do that now?

What if we made a point to take Friday to seek out the ones less fortunate?  What if we made a point, to think of a good deed to do every day from Friday to Christmas? What if we took this day to make care packages to send to a soldier, or cards to the elderly in nursing homes or to families stuck in the hospital due to a sick family member?  What if we made donations to a charity or helped out at a local shelter?  What if we just spend it curled up on the couch with our family watching Christmas videos?  What if?
