I just received an update from a friend in Pasadena about the damage her house sustained in Ike.  She explained their Friday night and early Saturday morning  adventure.  The winds hit and before they knew it shingles on the roof were flying off.  She told me the ceiling in their upstairs master bathroom and bedroom caved in making it easy for the rain to enter the house.  Their new floors are ruined.  The privacy fence in the backyard is missing and tress are up rooted everywhere.  She is upset right now and a little surprised by all the damage.  Power is out and they heard it might be out for a week or so.  She's going to a hotel until insurance adjusters can get out to see her neighborhood in 4 days.

It's amazing the bullet that missed Victoria.  I know we are all so thankful.  Let's remember those who weren't so lucky.

Are the Democrats scared or what?  Sarah Palin is rocking the '08 election at it's core.  I can't believe what was said on the floor of the House of Representatives comparing Obama to Jesus and Palin to Pilate by Congressman Cohen.  What are these goof balls talking about?  Celebrities are coming out of the wood work talking politics and Palin like they actually have the inside track or know the Governor of Alaska personally.  They sound nuts!  I'm so proud of McCain for choosing Palin as his running mate.  She is exactly what the Republicans needed to energize their campaign.  Palin is taking the Republicans to the White House this election year and the Dems are grasping at straws to stop her.  Not happening!  Have you heard how excited Rush is about Palin's introduction into this campaign?  It really is exciting how she's stealing the spot light from Obama.  The drive by media is totally bypassing Obama when Palin speaks and it's great!  Go McCain and Palin!!!

The weather channel is predicting that Ike is turning towards Galveston/Houston metro area.  I know it's a huge storm and we'll still feel some effects from it but I don't think we'll get what everyone originally thought...good news.  Newscenter 25 is still thinking we're in serious trouble but they need to listen to the PH D's on the weather channel.  I was about the have a heart attack but now I'm hearing we're on the good side of this hurricane.  My husband said we don't need to evacuate because the traffic on the roads leading out of here are going to be packed with all the people leaving from everywhere else.  He went into town earlier and picked up ice, batteries, non-perishables and propane.  He bought so much water I think we might have enough for a week if we need it.  We talked to a few people in our neighborhood who said they weren't leaving either.  I guess we've all decided to ride this one out ...thanks to all the trouble we had last time with Rita.  We sat in traffic for 2 hours between Cuero and Gonzales and we were only going to the other side of Austin.  It took forever in a truck with a 4 year old; that was no good.  Hurricane Ike is turning east and we are praying for those in it's path...a direct hit will be horrible.  I hope we are all praying for those in Ike's path.  Everyone staying around the Victoria area stay safe and hunker down just in case we get those Cat 3 force winds.

What is going on?  Who does Obama think he is...President!  I do not think I missed the entire '08 election.  Why is he in Germany giving speeches like he is our president?  He has some nerve to go over there and speak for me and other Americans that I know who don't share his beliefs/ideas.  He is making political speeches to Europeans about American issues and they can't vote for him.  What is he talking about..."citizens of the world".  Is Obama running for President of the World or what!?   He makes the strangest judgment calls.  Citizens of America do we really want this guy as our President?  Please!!!!

I called the paper yesterday to place a classified ad for a garage sale I'm having this weekend.  I was sitting here wondering why a garage sale ad cost $19.99.  Doesn't that seem a bit much?  I only wanted two lines for three days.  I've been trying to figure it out all day.

A family member went to the classifieds office this morning, placed the ad for me and it didn't cost $19.99.  It makes me wonder if I have dumb*** stamped on my forehead or something.  :)

It's okay...I took full advantage of our wonderful advocate website and chatted up our garage sale.  I'm hoping a lot of people visit us and buy everything we have out on the tables.  We do need our local paper but just couldn't figure out why they're so expensive.

Last night my husband and I attended Theatre Victoria's production of "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.  We have very talented people in our community to say the least of Victoria.  The cast last night was totally funny.  We enjoyed it so much; I believe we laughed more last night than we have in a while.  Jennifer and Julie sing like angels.  Michael and Brett are hilarious.  The entire cast are very wonderful actors.  I just want to express how lucky we are to have this type of entertainment in our town.  Bravo, on last night performance and continued success for coming seasons.  Kudos to all involved with Theatre Victoria!
