The end of Christmas?
Scientists are saying Santa Clause may be homeless before the end of this summer due to warming conditions at the North Pole.

Santa will be swimming in open water before the end of the summer, the AP reports. Hopefully, he'll move before that happens. He does have a flying sleigh after all.

But a bigger question looms: Is this the end of Christmas?

With the big man out of a home and toy factory, where will all the gifts come from?

Anyways, the AP really doesn't give much context to the story. In my  opinion, the NY Times does a better job with their story.

So is there any real threat? Apparently not much, yet at least.

Climate scientists are saying Antarctic ice is increasing while the Arctic ice is decreasing, undergoing a "flushing" process where old ice melts and is replaced by new ice. The new ice, however, tends to melt easier than the old ice did.

The whole process is being caused by global warming, most scientists think, and some of it may be from human-caused global warming.

With no apparent end in sight to global warming or humans, I suggest Santa move to Hawaii. The weather's nice. There's always a beach nearby. And he could work on his tan in the off-season.

mmmm.....

Fairbanks, Alaska just had one of its coldest temp winters in a while. And North Pole is just a little outside of town. North Pole, Alaska that is.

Went there just a year ago and talked with jolly ole Santa. But he was from Wisconsin.

mmmmmm.......

Though I joke about global warming, climate scientist are concerned about the ice shifts and what impact that will have for us. All jest aside, it is an issue the general public should investigate for themselves.

Thanks for the comments and additional information (rollinstone).

OMG, don't tell my children what's going on!  I've been able to keep Santa alive in our home for six years, let's hope he makes the move to Hawaii.........Surfing Santa!  It's sad to hear how global warming is affecting our planet, and what's even sadder is no one is really taking it seriously.

BTW, welcome!
