Selling animals on the side of the road !

Every weekend I see people on Navarro selling dogs and cats. I am amazed that this is legal in Victoria and that people actually buy animals on the side of the road. You have no idea where those animals came from or what kind of conditions that they have lived in or that they are even what the people selling them say they are. By buying these poor animals you are just supporting the whole puppy mill industry ! I stopped one day and asked a lady if the puppies had their shots.. she said Oh I dont give them until they are sold.. then she told me that the shots were laying in the front of her van.. now it was extremely hot that day.. and those vaccines must be refrigerated.. so basically she was giving shots that were no  good !  I talked to another lady one day ..( now this is a supposedly "good Breeder" ) and I asked her if her puppies were "vetted" she said "what is that "....sheeshhhhh I have seen kittens that were obviously sick..I heard one lady tell her buddy.. Dont give those puppies water.. we dont want them to pee..( can ya say STUPID ?) Yes I stop every week and try to get the name of the persons selling the puppies and any other information they will give.. then I go to the IRS website and report them for unreported income..Because   99 percent of these lowlifes selling dogs on the side of the road dont report a dime they make off these dogs..

You can get any kind of dog you want from rescue.. you want a pom ? look on the internet and do a search for pom rescue in tx.. or any other breed..I promise you will find a great dog.. and if you get a dog from rescue they have had all their shots, and are usually house trained and leash trained and spayed or neutered !

Please I am begging DONT BUY AN ANIMAL FROM THE SIDE OF THE ROAD !!!!!!!!! AND IF YOU ARE AN ANIMAL LOVER STOP AND GIVE THESE BREEDERS SOME FLAK...MAYBE THEY WILL GO AWAY !

My neighbors got a dog from in front of HOBBY LOBBY.  IT had the bad mange and evendutally died from it.  she penned it up outside and "MADE IT COMFORTABLE"  until i died.  My grandkids and I watched it die day by day.........It broke my heart.  I cannot understand why the city doesnt uphold the city law against that.  they sell all kinds of stuff and if I want to sell something, I have to have a tax certificate and citylicense to be legal.

Good for you!  Happy to hear that there are kindred spirits out there.   I wish you lived in Yorktown.  I have 4 rescue dogs.My daughter has 4.    Our vet, Lois Cochran, is trying to get some interest generated for a spay/neuter program in Ykt.  The problem is:  Macho men can't stand the thought of a neutered male dog.  And spaying is expensive.  Everyone loves a puppy, but a grown dog is disposible.  If I were rich, I would try to do more.  The same goes for cats.

LOWONAIR, your brain MUST be low on air! I am disgusted at the comments you have been posting on this blog. How dare you come at someone, with your hunter, barbaric, primal, not to mention (probably republican), Neanderthal mentality! face it LOWONAIR, you FAIL quite miserably at trying to prove your "point" or "side of the story" I'm sorry but that sounds just a little too immature for me, or any other person here on earth with enlightened SENSE.  You say dogs were mean to breed, it's primal instinct. TRUE, wow, you got something right, but what you are not clarifying is the fact that HUMANS shouldn't get in the way of that, we shouldn't breed a couple million dogs a year just cos little Susie or Tommy wants a pure bred Poodle or Pomeranian for his/her 5th birthday. Learn to have a little compassion for the innocent animals you kill just for your pleasure. HOW DARE YOU. With your greedy state of mind, it's always about the money isn't it!? I bet YOU would be trying to save these animals too if you got a cash reward each time wouldn't YOU? Get your head out of your *** and learn the truth about what is happening in the world. We are killing innocent animals and for what? Maybe this to you is not worth fighting for, but it is to people with compassion and people who care for their surroundings and environment and the animals that don't have a voice in this.

I am not hating anyone, but LOWONAIR, I hope you do get some sense into your brain soon. It's people like me and breedershouldbeneutered and others that are taking a stand against this form of cruelty at it's worst. Cruelty against the most INNOCENT creatures we have on this planet.

Breedershouldbeneutered, I was going to say nice blog! Take Care Everyone! :)

why dont you come over and unchain my dog? your calling me an idiot? haha. forget to take your meds? i dont care what laws were passed. i live somewhere that there are no leash laws yet i know that my dog needs to be chained before he bites someone else or eats another dog. ive never abused him and all this happened before he was chained. that goes to show that its in his blood and his primal instinct. you keep saying the same things everytime you type. up your intelligence and then come back to see me.

as for me doing something for the welfare of animals, i make donations to different organizations, i hunt, and i kill animals that come on my property that are up to no good. this keeps alot of dogs out of the pound and from being euthanized.

Are we supposed to outlaw breeding of pets as well as neutering their owners as you suggest?

I might suggest that you turn your energy and passion towards the people of Victoria and the state.

okay once again.. Spay and neuter your animals then they wont have to go sit on the side of the road and try to sell them or give them away... being a responsible owner means spay and neuter..I DONT RAISE OR BREED animals.. there are enough in the shelters now...

lowonair.. you IDIOT.. all dogs must be in a leash ! NO DOG DESERVES to spend its life on a chain in the back yard..! That is what I am against.. You want to come to my house.. I do rescue.. I DONT have just small little lap dogs.. I DO RESCUE.. that means I take in all the abused and unwanted and sick and injured animals and get them SPAYED and NEUTERED and healthy , then I try to find good loving homes for them.. Do you know that a dog that is chained has a 300% more likely hood to attack than a dog that is not chained ? no matter what breed.. How would you like to spend your life on a 3 ft chain in the yard ? Oh and ya might check out HB 4611 it passed and went into effect on Sept 1 this past year..and it is STATE WIDE..it pertains to the chaining of dogs..and in 2009 hopefully legislation will go through that will make it illegal to chain a dog at all in the state of Texas.. it is already illegal in Austin and other cities in the state..

So until you can make an intelligent arguement.. And can say YOU do something for the welfare of animals .. just sit back down and watch the show !

ive been through the city pound more than enough to pick up my chow. no i dont peddle animals on navarro. i dont have time for it. when im not at work i do constructive things. neither one of you are even getting my point so i wont bother with people who cant comprehend. i understand the feelings toward the people who are out there every weekend. BUT, alot of these people arent doing this for a living.  some of them are giving these animals away or selling them extremely cheap. i hope i can get your information after a little searching breedersshouldbeneutered so i can send it to the irs too. what happens when your puppies are born? you SELL them right? i bet you dont give that info to the irs. all of you "activists" live in your own little worlds. how many dogs go through painful surgeries every year just to satisfy you people? animals were meant to breed, its primal instinct. i dont agree with puppy mill either, but just because someone is selling a few puppies or kittens on navarro doesnt mean that they run a ******* breeding factory.

alot of the breeders i know make plenty of profit. its not hard to make money doing it. obviously your "breeders" dont know how to do it.

Sounds like breedersshouldbeneutered struck a nerve with lowonair........

Have you been out peddling animals on Navarro, lowonair?

Why?  The question is WHY?  Why do you have to resort to breeding animals for profit.  You should do it for the better of the breed.  I am also VERY involved with animal rescue working with both lonestar boxer rescue and second time around aussie rescue.  I also show boxers.  NONE of the reputable breeders I work with even make a profit.  They actually lose money by the time it's all said and done.  They also only breed 1 or 2 litters per year.  Puppy's that will not be shown are sold with spay/neuter contracts and limited AKC registration.  That is the RESPONSIBLE thing to do.

I want you to walk through the City pound.  Look into their eyes.  You know that they have the following fate:

A - they'll get adopted

B- they'll die

C- there is no C.

Ask the workers their about their euthanasia rate.   Think about all that animals do for us - especially dogs.  Think about everything they did during our 9-11 crisis in New York, all the search and rescue dogs putting humans before them, all the seizure alert dogs, hearing dogs for the deaf, seeing eye dogs, therapy dogs, cancer detecting dogs, narcotic dogs, war dogs, k-9 unit police dogs, bomb detecting dogs.  All these selfless acts and we treat them like disposible piece of garbage.

Quit arguing, you have nothing to argue about.

anything for a dime? haha. i dont take handouts lady. do you know these people personally? i know that most of them dont have a lavish kennel for these animals but that doesnt mean they dont care for them. in your profile you state that no dog should be leashed. do you fully comprehend the consequenses of turning every dog in texas loose? many dogs including mine would be eating your precious lap dogs or they would be getting shot at by farmers. think of how many dogs would be running around your neighborhood fighting with eachother. the mentality of my comment speaks for others? thats good because that shows me that there are other people that would understand what i mean instead of trying to play activist and speaking nonsense. half of those animals are being GIVEN AWAY!!! i wouldnt buy an animal from them due to the higher risk of parvo due to all the animals that have been there in the past, but im not going to judge them or turn them into the IRS for them trying to make the money back that they have spent on these animals for food, shelter, and other things.

Thank goodness for you!!!!!!  I don't think I could have said it better myself!  Two words.....PUPPY - MILL!  It's the lazy man's (or woman's) job.  Breed the life out of poor cats and dogs for profit.  Completely ignoring the fact that for every animal born to their mill - 10 more die in shelters each day.  The above examples prove that the only thing these people are interested in is profit - not the well-being of their animals.

I once stopped and talked to a woman whom I have seen each weekend with a different breed of dog - peddling them on the streets.  She claimed that she checked out her buyers extensively - how do you "check them out EXTENSIVELY while on the curb of Navarro??????  GEEZ!

And what is the deal with "designer dogs?"  So mixed breeds are the in thing now????  Well, go down to the three animal shelters we have in Victoria, there are plenty that are begging for homes.  Every 24 hours  in the United States, over 10,000 animals are put to death simply because there aren't enough homes.  Is it fair????  Is it right????  I guess if you don't think about it, then it's not an issue.  Everyone needs to do their part - DON't SHOP - ADOPT!

And....DON"T BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS PETS DIE!

Please check out the following websites.  www.aspca.org        www.hsus.org         www.stoppuppymills.org

After you have reviewed those websites, don't think that these people selling on Navarro are any different.

20 dollars for a bithday gift is a little bit different than making a living off of breeding animals for a living because its easy money.. and yes the majority of the people that sell by the side of the road are number one too cheap to run a decent Kennel ..and they dont give a flip about the animals.. they are just out trying to make a buck.. almost  a half a milion dogs and cats will be put to sleep in the state of texas this year.. oh but that doesnt matter as long as someone can make a dime ... right ? The mentality of your comment  pretty much speaks volumes for the people in this area...Any thing for an easy dime.................

do you report christmas money that you get or money you get for your birthday? what about if you win $200 dollars on a lotto ticket? no, you probably cash it in right? would you report the money you would get if you were to lose everything in a fire someone donates some cash to you to help out? not all these people run puppy mills and not all of them sell animals that are sick and malnurished. did you ever stop to think that maybe these people sell the animals at these locations due to the high volumn of traffic? trust me, i would rather buy from a well known breeder too, but dont just jump to conclusions. i found a $100 bill on the ground the other day REPORT ME!!!
