Ron Paul’s Liberal Record on Border Control

In Congress, Ron Paul has been a major roadblock to securing our borders from Illegal Immigrants.

2005: Ron Paul voted against the Duncan Hunter (R-CA) Amendment to H.R. 4437 to increase border controls

Rep. Paul voted against the Hunter Amendment to H.R. 4437. The Hunter Amendment would shore up security by building fences and other physical infrastructure to keep out illegal aliens. The Hunter Amendment passed by a vote of 260-159.

2005: Ron Paul voted against H.R. 418 to increase border controls

Rep. Paul voted against H.R. 418 to strengthen border control by requiring completion of the last 3.5 miles of the San Diego border fence. As well, H.R. 418 would broaden the terrorism-related grounds for inadmissibility and deportability of aliens. H.R. 418 passed by a vote of 261-161.

2004: Ron Paul voted against the Virgil Goode (R-VA) Amendment to H.R. 4200 authorize the U.S. military on the border

Rep. Paul voted against authorizing the Secretary of Defense to assign members of the military, under certain conditions, to assist in the performance of border control functions. The Goode Amendment passed the House by a vote of 231-191.

2001: Voted against the Traficant Amendment to H.R. 2586 to authorize the use of troops on the border

Rep. Paul voted against authorizing the Attorney General and the Secretary of the Treasury to request that members of the Armed Forces assist the INS with border control efforts. The Traficant Amendment passed by a vote of 242-173.

I don't want him for anything: President or Representative. He is incapable of accomplishing anything. And all the talk of being the standard bearer for all the good in the world is actually usless as is he since no one pays any attention to him. But, hey, if the people want to keep voting him in and having us be the laughing stock of the US, go for it! Right now we've got nothing with him in office and when it's over in November and he's re-elected we'll still have nothing. He likes it that way. I've come to the conclusion that thinking people can pick a presidential candidate other than Ron Paul and articulate why but when it comes to choosing a representative who will act in the interest of ALL the people, those same folks go brain dead. Whatever. Let them have him. I'm tired of all their tired internet slogans and mass hysteria. I voted early and voted for Peden. I did my part. But there are ten of them to one of me so I don't hold much hope.

And let's be clear the solution to this problem.  Without a systemic end of the Welfare State which inclusively extends to public schools and healthcare, fences are feel-good bandages on a wound that is arterially bleeding.  Besides, we don't have the troops--they are all in Iraq protecting the Syrian, Saudi and Iranian borders...

Ron Paul is our best hope! (and these are drastic oversimplifications, and basically lies)

Obviously you're trying to smear Ron Paul here.  Ethically, you can't say Ron Paul voted against something without FULLY describing everything in the bills, or at least mention the bad things in the bill that accompanied the things you mention him "voting against. "  But I guess this news outlet's ethics aren't so very high, or it's just fighting against a force for freedom at the command of some rich owner who hates Ron Paul's policies for freedom?   Unfortunately the bills you mentioned were stacked with all kinds of other provisions which would NOT have been in our district's best interest.  Ron Paul's position on the issue of border security is clear.  And if you really look at his voting record and not just accept what Mass Media is spoon feeding the public you'll know Ron Paul's actions speak just as loud as his words!

If Dr. Paul voted against a bill, then you better beleive it was a "Pork Barrel"

spending bill, or completely unconstitutional. Dr. Paul is the most honest

person I've ever known, and I feel he could very well be America's last hope

for restoring honesty to our political system. If you don't agree with Dr. Paul's

political viewpoints, then I have to consider you completely unimformed.

You obviously didn't read the bills mentioned in your post.  If you Had read them, you would know that Ron Paul's votes were supported by the Constitution.  Furthermore, familiarize yourself with his voting record as a whole, compare that record with his speeches and writings....you will see how wrong your assessment is.  Ron Paul is the One Conservative who has consistently "walked his talk".  Please do your research before spewing your incomplete and misleading gibberish.

This is from Ron Paul himself:

The talk must stop. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked. This is my six point plan:

  • Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals.
  • Enforce visa rules.  Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law.  This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.
  • No amnesty.  Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.
  • No welfare for illegal aliens.  Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules.  But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.
  • End birthright citizenship.  As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.
  • Pass true immigration reform.  The current system is incoherent and unfair.  But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation.  This is insanity.  Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods.

The funny thing is, all of the bills had pages and pages of other stuff hidden in them.  That is how most of these bills are.  They sound very good on paper but when you read the fine print; they are just window dressing for something altogether unacceptable.  Ron Paul reads EVERYTHING that comes before him, including all of the fine print.  Very few of the other legislators do.  If they did and if they weren't living to please everyone, rather than do the right thing, most of them would not vote on these bills.
Ron Paul is for strict border control and bringing our troops home to protect our borders and our country. Why don't you get these bills out and read them for yourself and you will find that they are not all they appear to be.  Don't be fooled by this.
Look at Ron Paul's perfect record on voting after thoughtfully analyzing a bill.  Look at his perfect record on understanding monetary policy and foreign policy.  He is the only one who knew that our dollar would be crashing and we would be going into the recession that we are.  I want a man who knows what's going on and will do what is right, not necessarily what is popular.
