Private JB (part 3)
Ok, since last week's post of this nature started a big "huff" remember if you read this, I was 18 at the time I wrote it (just a kid). Enjoy.
Until next time, JB 3 November 1988 Today I had KP, and I cant believe how rough that was. I lifted so many cans and hauled so much trash. There is this one private named Pvt. Younger, and she is 34-years-old and acts like she is twelve. I yelled at her today because she wasnt paying attention to details. It felt so weird chewing out someone so much older than I am. Its a good thing I had KP because the whole entire company had to do push-ups, sit-ups and dying cockroaches (you lay on your back with your legs in the air until you cant take anymore and then do it ten extra minutes), and much more. I heard lots of people got sick and threw up. I nearly fainted in the chow hall because my stupid nose was bleeding so badly. I have been having these nosebleeds a lot lately I wish it would stop! Tomorrow is phase testing, and everyone is nervous. I am kind of mad because we have to run 2 miles for that, and then in the afternoon we are running in race. The race costs us 2.00 and we are running 3 miles trying to beat the base General. Tomorrow will be busy plus we have to pack for Bivouac (our time out in the field). Tonight at mail call a girl got a 6-pack of Reeses and I bought one from her for $3.00, thats not bad around here. Well, once again I am in the latrine ready for my shower so I can go to sleep. First call is at 0500 hours; yeah we get to sleep in! 4 November Boy, was today a DAY. We woke up at 0300 and before I knew it we were downstairs getting yelled at severely! Our DS was hitting the wall with his pistol belt and he threw his hat at us and said we were all b**ches and he didnt like the way only 80% of us tried and the other 20% didnt. We had to stand with are arms at shoulder level while bending our knees with our heels off the ground for 20 minutes. I did not think that is physically possible within about 5 minutes a bunch of the girls started bawling, but I never shed a tear. After about 10 minutes they gave up on us. Speaking of crying, I nearly broke down today. I was running the 2-mile for my physical training (PT) test and it was raining hard, I felt so bad, and all I wanted to do was quit. I ran a mile and a half before I started to walk some. My time today was 20:18 and the last PT test I did 22:40. So, I did get better. Then on the push-ups I was really disappointed the last time I did 22 and this time only 20. I think my arms are given out from KP duty and this mornings punishment. I dropped in sit-ups too, went from 48 to 47. PT is a big deal here, any one can tell you there stats, its like honor thing. Oh yeah, today we got our protective masks and that was so wild. It is tighter than anything and makes my ears turn red. I guess I better go to bed after today I am bound to be sore in the morning. 5 November Today we hit white phase!! We start to get some privileges now, thank goodness! We had this neat little ceremony, and took the red flag off the pole and put on the white one. This phase ought to be pretty easy because the first week will be bivouac, and when we get back we only have two more weeks to go. Today when we were lined up against the wall waiting to be tested I squat down against the wall to study. About five minutes later I hear Private, get your goat smelling *ss off the floor! He was talking to me. I just turned my head, and died laughing. He was far enough away he could not hear me laughing at him. After all that, then I come upstairs tonight and my mattresses, along with about 7 others were on the floor. We were told it was because they were not made properly, like making your bed properly has anything to do with being a combat ready soldier! Oh well, that was actually pretty funny too. I have got to get my shower and get to bed; I have fire guard duty tonight. It sounds real important; its not. Fireguard duty is just another head game you play here. We have duty for an hour at a time and what you do is sit and watch the fire alarm to make sure no one pulls it unless there is a real fire! Its not so bad if you have the first duty after lights out or the one right before first call, when its bad is when you have duty then have one hour before first call, you get back to sleep and then you have to get right back up again! 0 comments from 0 users
