Ever just watch children run after fireflies at dusk...only to never catch them? But they sure have the time of their lives running all about and screaming at the top of their lungs all the while! My daughters, Jadyn and Janaya(whom Rusty refers to as the famous "Jambalaya" since birth), came bursting into the house yelling that they needed a jar for fireflies. Well...mommy didn't have those as we gave them back to nanny upon finishing the last of the pickles last season. So I gave them some plastic cups(knowing if they did catch some...I wouldn't have to wonder if the cup I'm drinking from had a corpse in it or not) from the cabinet. John and I just sat on the front porch, in the night breeze, watching our 14 month old run and sqeal about in delight because his sisters were bound and determined to catch a freakin bug.
It was a really wonderful week of weather, I was actually able to open all doors and windows during the day as our house is covered by trees..so it was great! I love spring!
Easter was great too! We had Sunday Easter dinner with my parents and brother(some of you may know him, he's the head mechanic at Kresta's Boats and Motors...Michael). The kids were decked out in holiday garb..but of course mom and dad were in their same outfits from the past five Easters. It was a nice day for everyone. After dinner, we headed to Wharton to spend it with John's family. You can tell the difference in our cultures. My family is all quiet and laid back and well...fall asleep after a good meal. John's family...well...the games begin after a good meal. It was a pot luck and I have never seen so much food in my life! I had a stomach ache just looking at it all. John proceeded to make a Taquito with homeade tortilla's...I don't think my mom's lunch had time to digest on him either. Then the confetti eggs went around. The kids all egg hunted in age groups..there were too many to count..so I just kept up with my three. Now...I watch Little House on the Prairie every morning...and I've seen outhouses on television...but never have actually seen a real life one...and I'm not talking about the rental portapot's we see around. Yes people...John's aunt and uncle have not one..but TWO REAL OUTHOUSES out in the country!!! Real wood outhouses...with a REAL hole in the ground for...well...you know what to go in to. Jambalaya was just dumbfounded with all that. I must say..I was a bit skeptical at first..but there it was! It was a conversation piece I can tell ya. They have two trailer houses out there, but are finishing building their house out there too. I guess the outhouses are really a good idea when you think about it...all that family...I'm talking about 13 brothers and sisters with spouses and children..and those children have children and so on. So we're talking..family reunion basically. Its actually a good idea when you've got that many back ends constantly on a potty. Dig a hole...fill it up...cover it up and move the house to a new location. Hmmmmm
