Sights and Sounds of Women's Tennis
Okay, it's not that I don't think men's tennis is okay to watch, I just am afraid that if I rave on about that, a rumor might spread that I'm gay. But then for someone with a secret desire to become a real writer, published 'n'everthang, that might be just the push that my career needs.......nah, nevermind. And please, don't read anything into the "gay" remark either. You are who you are - love yourself and live your life! You only get one.

While waiting for the 'stro's game to start, I happened across a match at the French Open between Venus Williams (Goliath) and some little third world waif(David, or maybe her name was Puffy).

Now, for a bit of background, I own two nice graphite racquets, one long barrel, and one derringer, designed for the glass room, and I CAN play tennis, though my wife refuses to play with me (says I am too aggressive). I think that is due to the fact that my racquet sport of choice, being racquetball, is a sport at which I have sent opponents to the ER in search of sutures for zigging when they should have zagged. And in all fairness, I'll admit that my most formidable opponent, was a girl, my good friend Deb, who while quite a fetching lass, struck fear in the heart of any man who challenged her in that little glass and hardwood enclosure.

Sorry, back to the girls match on the tube. When I saw what was on, I checked it out, hoping it might be Maria Sharapova vs Daniela Hantuchova, basically a true world class tennis match/Russian beauty contest. Not to be though......... What I did notice for the first time though, was the audio.

While the little gal was silent in her work, Venus on the other hand, with each stroke, sounded like a mama chupacabra in the heat of passion, or the female lead, in one of those late night Cinemax movies. What's up with that?

The other thing I noticed was that there must have been a bit of a chill, or a nip in the air at Roland Garros Tennis Center today. Or as that little old guy, Gene, probably 5'1" or so, on his tiptoes, that used to wander aimlessly, and converse with who else but, Gene, while strolling the streets of Seadrift for hours on end, might say, careful girl, you're gonna put someone's eye out with one of those things.
