Well, the little Jamestown colony, sounds like they took a page out of that book by Karl, the forgotten sixth Marx brother. (the other 5 were Harpo, Zeppo, Groucho, Chico, and Skid). I am not against Corporate Profits or individual gain, and I certainly don't begrudge anyone for striving for a good or even better life. I have a good job. I am well compensated for my work, and I am as sick of my hard earned money funding illegals and welfare baby mills, and to pay court appointed attorneys for scumbags,  as you are too I would guess. I was specifically referring to the increasing number of hyper-funded gazillionaires who do everything from spout hate on the radio in the name of their cause, to entertaining me and my kids. Wealthy is acceptable to me.....I should be so lucky as to hit it big. But there is no place in our society for people making hundreds of millions a year, no matter what they do..........particularly singers, rappers, boxers, ballplayers, and televangelists, to name a few............

I beg to differ.....that chasm is not incentive. I see it as a moat around the palace compound. I will agree that on occasion, hard work, ambition and a unique business plan still will succeed, and while that is encouraging, their numbers are dwarfed by the number of sinister, pyramid, get rich quick, infomercial slugs who play by a whole different set of rules. Do you honestly think we are not already a country where political connections are a fast lane to making select folks' lives better? Don't kid yourself. Good, effective government CAN make EVERYONE'S lives better. Politicians on the other hand, do it too......just only for their select few........then they sell the success of those few as "government" results, and hang that carrot just out of the reach of the masses that they and their chosen few feed on.

And yes, my disdain is for exponentially out of the universe pay to entertainers, sports figures, and that Saran Wrapped pile of liver Oprah, along with Katie Couric, and ANYONE who thinks themselves larger than life and deserving of their unrealistic salaries. There may be some exceptions, Bill Gates for one, who history will equate with Edison, Franklin, Bell, etc., likely qualifies for his contribution to mankind. And look wat the amount of the wealth he has, that he and his wife Melinda make a full time job of donating back to humankind and overseeing it's distribution.

Okra, I mean Oprah is overpaid, Katie Curic is overpaid. That phony Doctor--Phil McGraw--overpaid. Bill O'Lielly--way overpaid. I want my money back. He bathes with a falafel. Matthew McConaughey--should give most of his salary back to the studio and split it among the crew.  Everyone is overpaid, except ME of course.  Rush is the most overpaid pig in the world.  Anyone else you need to include? I will agree on most all of them . Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra, UNDERpaid.

Not that I disagree with some of what you say, going back to my old poor days of yesteryear, yes there is a greater width between poor, middle class and wealthy.

 

But, why is it bad for Rush to make this money, he does earn it? No much was said when Opra signs a HUGE contract. Nobody on the left talked down about Katie Couric gets a VASTLY OVERPAID contratct. It is self evident now. Nobody says a word when some lefty liberal wacko Hollywoodite so called actor get a HUGE amount for a movie or record contract.

 

Leads one to think that it is okay for the approved elite to make it but if you are not approved and conservative,....bad dog. It is the Conservative that says it is okay for all to get it if they can.

Go back and review the times that our founding fathers lived in.  There pretty much was a chasm between the haves and the have nots.  Remember it was the land owners and the those who did not own land. In that day there was use of slaves and indentured servants.  Sad to say if you read the microfilm slaves were explicitly named during the sales, persons that were indentured were not.

And talk about unbalanced.  Any time a woman became widowed, the fine upstanding lawyers took the children away and made them indentured until they were 18 -- all in the name of educating them. They also made them work their farms and land. I was researching a line form a friend. An ancestor was grabbed by an English ship captain and taken to Virginia and sold as an indentured person to landowners. This man was English and white, not black. The indenture was for 7 years.  Also as part of the agreement, the mens sons became soldiers for the government because of whom they worked for.

The fathers were killed in Tennessee. As for the day, there were attorneys in Nashville that took the children from the mothers and indentured them.  See it is basically a never ending cycle.  The oldest child was released in a court case by curcuit attornies named Madison and Jackson.  Guess who that child followed in the civil war and named children after.

The time you are pining for only had two classes.  The middle class in America did not occur until the last 100 years.  So I think you need to read more of the documents produced by our founding fathers and understand what their visions were at the time.  They believed only land owners should vote.  Is that your belief?  In some ways that belief has value in others it does not.

If you go back and read  many of the publications, papers, etc. of that time -- you may find the overall theme may have threads that are much closer to Limbaugh that your vision of utopia or what may better known as socialism or marxism.

Instead of the diatribe of rant, how do you propose to span the chasm? What structure do you want? We live in a country that allows free speech -- both you and I can have discourse along with others. There can be intelligent ranting and raving. Were else do we have a man running for president that claims to be christian mixed with muslim that when to a church that preached against whites and hated America?  In many countries, that church would be bombed if it spoke such vile venom against the current ruling faction.

So think about it.  You have a gift of the key board and your brain. If your disagree with Rush, what are your counterpoints?  What would you change to span chasms?  What would be your project plan?  These are the real tough questions that face our true leaders. The others just minipulate the systems and the people for their party or their own goals.
