Blog. That's what it is!

I drive by all the restaurants (Chilli's, Johnny Carino's) on Navarro frequently to check the progress of the Tokyo Bar and Grill.  It's starting to look really great, I'm excited!  Does anyone know when it is slated to open? Or whenabouts at least?

I want to go eat there and try the good food! I've had Japanese maybe about 2 times in my life - the latest was on the 22nd of March, and I had Onagi! (Eel - sushi) It was really good! The ginger was cool too, it helps clean your pallette.

Other than thinking of the restaurant, I've been thinking of graduation.  I grabbed paperwork to sign up for substitute teaching! Yay! That's it.

There are three ways I knowe of (there may be more) of presenting sushi.

Nigiri or finger sushi

Maki sushi (rolled sushi)

and Chirashi which is sushi rice in a bowl with the toppings scattered on top.

I like Nigiri best becasue it is the easiest to eat.

1. it is easier to grip with chopsticks (Hashi)

2. Maki rolls fall apart if you just try to take a bite rather than stuff the whole piece in your mouth.

Here are some examples of the different styles

NIGIRI

MAKI

CHIRASHI

Ah, Unagi.  Which is Onagi then? O_O;

Ah, um, I'm not sure, my friend ordered it for me. *embarassed* Either Nigiri or Maki..um...yeah.

*looked it up* Nigiri, though I'd need to try more sushi to chose a favorite. ^-^;  I've never had or heard of Chirashi.  What's your fav?

That's weird. It's closer for me to cut over to Stockbauer togo north to the Mall area, yet I find myself cutting over to Navarro just for that very same purpose. I even drive back in there to look for a "Grand Opening" sign or something.

Eel is Unagi. not Onagi

Unagi is awesome, but stay clear of Unagi no Kimo. (BLEH)

My particular favorite is Saba.

Which way do you like your sushi best?

Nigiri?

Maki?

or Chirashi?
