I read all the articles and comments about the school board race.  One suggested that we research the candidates.  Mention of conflict of interest also came into play.  I find the following rules being violated by the wife of one of thecandidates, Dr. Jaynes.  I find it hard to believe that he doesnt give a blind eye to this and will continue to do so.  In my opnion, he cannot be a mamner of the Board without violating the neoptism ruling stated in the board policy

All employees are expected to work together in a cooperative spirit to serve the best interests of the district and to be courteous to students, one another, and the public. Employees are expected to observe the following standards of conduct:

•  Recognize and respect the rights of students, parents, other employees, and members of the community.  Does this include violating a students constitutional rights? (freedom of speech and press)
•  Report to work according to the assigned schedule Does standing in the hall on your cell phone for an entire class period violate this rule?
• Know and comply with department and district procedurea and policies.  Does this include calling television producers and allowing them to film students without permission of the Board?
•  Use district time, funds, and property for authorized district business and activities only.  Does this mean a teacher is not supposed to use her personal cell phone during class time to text message eligible students asking for a vote?

 Ethical Conduct toward Students Standard

Standard3.1 The educator shall not reveal confidential information
concerning students unless disclosure serves lawful professional
purposes or is required by law. (does this include the discussion of former members and conversations with their parents?  Does this include discussion before the entire team about arrearages of accounts?
Standard 3.2 The educator shall not knowingly treat a student in a manner that
adversely affects the student's learning, physical health, mental
health, or safety.  Does this mean that a teacher cannot harrass a student  and treat them in a manner that demeans them and tears at their self esteem?  Is depression and feeling suicidal fall under physical and mental health and safety? Ask some of the kids who left the team. 
Standard 3.3 The educator shall not deliberately or knowingly misrepresent
facts regarding a student.  This has happened many time in parent conferences as well as to team members about a former member. 
Standard 3.4 The educator shall not exclude a student from participation in a
program, deny benefits to a student, or grant an advantage to a
student on the basis of race, color, sex, disability, national origin,
religion, or family status. Does this mean that If I babysit your grandkids, you will pay my arrearage in my account and I can take it out in babysitting?  Should only one student get that privlidge?  Does this mean that I cant participate because you dont like my weight, height or freckles?

Lets not forget that the candidates wife broke a rule in allowing MTV to begin filming without permission of the Superintendent or the Board.    This required a lot of legal advice that probably wasnt cheap.  Id rather seen the district spend that money on educating kids, not making a media circus of the drill team.....even though the truth probably needs to be told.  If I were Dr. Jaynes, I'd hide my face, not plaster my name on every corner in the city limits.
