Thought provoking
"the dark is generous. its first gift is concealment: our true faces lie in the dark beneath our skins, our true hearts remain shadowed deeper still. but the greatest concealment lies not in protecting our secrect truths, but in hiding from us the truths of others. the dark protects us from what we dare not know. it's second gift is comforting illusion: the ease of gentle dreams in nights embrace, the beauty that imagination brings to what would repel in day's harsh light. but the greatest of its comforts is the illusion that the dark is temporary: that every night brings a new day. because it is day that is temporary. day is the illusion. its third gift is the light itself: as days are defined by the nights that divide them, as stars are defined by the infinite black through which they wheel, the dark embraces the light and brings it forth from the center of its own self. with each victory of the light, it is the dark that wins."

"the dark is generous, it is patient, and it always wins. it always wins because it is everywhere. it is in the wood that burns in your hearth, and in the kettle on the fire, it is under your chair and under your table and under the sheets on your bed. walk in the midday sun and the dark is with you, attached to the soles of your feet. the brightest light will always cast the darkest shadow."

living in sin 2: a more gentleman-like attack against the church

note: the original blog was deleted because i mentioned that i intended to deface an entity's property, even though this was intended to be a joke, this was entirely my fault and i apologize if you were trying to make a point and i didnt get to read it. this new blog should make up for that. enjoy.

i hate the church. i realize that's a strong statement to believe but it's true. i hate the church because it's dotrines deny us the most basic right of all. the right to be human. anything you say, feel, or do, can be labeled as a sin. endless rules and regulations. who goes up and who goes down and why. as a result we repress ourselves. and the worse part is that the minister, god's spokesman, is much more of a sinner then you or i. im a human being, i was given the power of freewill, and the option to make my own path, and if they don't let me into heaven because i chose to do so, then i guess thats just how the ball bounces

ok, good point bighorn. i dont actually think that people who believe are ignorant, i just have problems with people who try to push it, case and point: the past couple of debates we've had concerning gay marriage.

RG: I respect your right to not believe. It's your choice. But your choice in words is that those who believe are ignorant. I realize "backlash" is what you seek with your statements. Do you?

Be well

Mr.Rag: Please pull my insulting quotes of LatinDaddy. You are lying. I used no vulgar descriptive terms of him. Just disapproval of his chosen lifestyle, and the fact that I have the right to that opinion.

As usual, you are wrong and wrongheaded. Just because you take issue with my views, doesn't make you superior. It makes you foolish.

We are all sinners are forgiven if they ask through Jesus. Have you ever humbled yourself? I didn't think so.

At least I don't spend my waking hours writing hate mail to and about a place I abandoned. And claim of a fantasy existance in a faraway land.....

Best wishes

Please elaborate on how the Church is infallible? And what church would you say that is-yours?

bighorn, just because i have an undeniable hatred for the church and everything it stands for, doesnt mean i will shun those who do love the church. i adore my father, and some of his core beliefs are drawn straight from the church, i have a friend who's a catholic and the hypocrissy of catholism rivals that of baptists and pentacostals, and last but not least: my grandmother was a firm believer in the church and it's doctrines... and strangely enough, i have an overwhelming love for all these people. so, my hatred of the church will not affect my choice for president as religion should not be a factor when someone votes.  i dont hate christians, because if i did, then id be hating every1 around me, i just hate being told how to feel and what to think.

You  remind me a lot of myself when I was 19.

That's not a bad thing, thinking outside the box is important in today's mainstream fed society. It is important to know that in today's world where we are told what to watch, eat, and even which candidates we must pick that there are people who challenge it.

In my life and experiences, I have learned a lot. I think that in time, you will see it is possible to challenge the norm, be human, and still be whatever religion we all choose to be. The Church is infallible, mankind is not, therefore it is easy to sterotype the Church just like many of your encounters sterotype you.  It is unfortunate, but it is our nature to fear what we don't understand. I know, because I have this horrible distaste for Ren Fest participants (joke joke)

Dont lose your passion to be free, but also dont lose you hope in mankind, we arent all bad some of us are actually pretty cool people, and one day if you ever decide to recount what you said about the Church in general, it's OK with a real Christian like me.

First off, maybe we all need a little education on what a CHRISTIAN is:  According to Josephus- an antiques writer back in the day-  Christians aren't the same as they were then.  As a matter of fact, a Christian had NOTHING to do with ANY religion and EVERYTHING to do with a man named Jesus.   According to history, thousands of years ago, this particular name of "Jesus" was popular around town!  EVERYONE named their son Jesus because it meant something, in this case, Savior.  In histories past, names meant something and what you named a person carried great value on their character.

Josephus writes about a particular man, whose name was also Jesus, only this man was of exceptional quality and "different" from all the rest.  Quality meaning; LOVE, forgiveness, belief in others, belief in self, a perfect explanation for what a true "savior" would be.  Exemplifying the birth name he was given by his parents: Joseph and Mary.  According to Josephus, this man named Jesus was identified by the people as..."The Christ" in order to separate him from the rest of the "pack" named Jesus.  This man didn't belong to an organized religion.  He was just a man who believed in all people and loved each of them.  His message wasn't lived by "religious" RULE or LAW.  His message was simply...Love.  The people who followed this man and enjoyed being his friend "referred to themselves as: Christ yans.  Hence the word... "CHRISTIAN."

The truth is often confused with religious LAW and carries no value on the true meaning of... CHRIST yans.

By the way RR, I believe this man name Jesus- the one I'm referring too- would have called you RedRage.  He might have changed your name to something different once you got to know him but even at that, he changed several of the disciples names, so you wouldn't have been treated any differently :)

You know what is funny RG? You and I don't claim to be Christians but we probably treat people better than 95% of the Christians out there :) I believe in God. I just don't believe the Bible is the word of God. I don't believe in any organized religion at all. I think its all just a control mechanism. People were just too dumb back then to realize they were being had. The Church used FEAR to get these people to follow them. I am not going to put all of my faith into some "book" written by MAN. Man??? Man screws up everything LOL

Bighorn is supposed to be some good Christian yet he called me "RedRag" on the other blog. Yeah, that's so Christian of you *rolls eyes* Would Jesus have called me RedRag? LOL I've also seen BigHorn attack Latindaddy in other threads(in the past) calling him a "*************" etc because he is gay.....yeah, thats a good Christian alright LOL Keep up the good Christian work!  Jesus would be so proud of you Bighorn.

Don't get me wrong. I've seen some good comments from good Christians on the Advocate. Bighorn just ain't one of 'em!

I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

It is doubful that any Christian would bother wasting their time or effort trying to "affect" your lives. I suppose your expressed hatred is indeed a type of religion.

It appears you worship your own limited powers of reasoning beyond the intelligence you proclaim to have your pocession. Interesting.

Given Senator Obama and Senator McCain are Christians, I assume you have a different candidate of choice. Who would that be?

The concepts of original sin, depravity, substitutionary forgiveness, intolerance, eternal punishment, and humble worship are all beneath the dignity of intelligent human beings and conflict with the values of kindness and reason. They are barbaric ideas for primitive cultures cowering in fear and ignorance!!!!
