The garbage disposal service has declined severely! I believe if the City is going to cut cost then they need to cut the price we are paying for the service. We use to get our trash picked up twice a week. We could throw away boxes and items that do not fit in the trash can and the city crew would pick it up. Now they only pick up that big can and that is it. The service we receive is sub-par our whole neighborhood is very unhappy with the way things have changed. We now have to haul anything extra to the landfill and pay a disposal fee. I understand that metropolitan area's like Houston, Austin, and San Antonio have been doing this for a long time but they also have the higher paying jobs and better resources than we do here. Victoria has higher rental houses than larger cities and lower paying jobs. Victoria really needs to fix what is broke not change what works................
Yesterday I spent with my kids. Both who are in their early 20's. They could not grasp the concept that the rising cost of living is directly affected by the cost of gasoline. I want to see who all believes my theory. Historically our country was founded by the agriculture industry. Basically the farmers. O.K. Now the farmers have to plant the crops. They need to use gas and diesel operated equipment to accomplish this process from start to finish. Then they have to ship the product to the market by gasoline or diesel operated equipment. The market has to mill the products or process it. Most of the machinery is either gasoline/diesel or electricity to run. This can go on and on and on but do you see what I am saying. With the price of gas so high it effects everything. Its a domino effect. So we are not just feeling the pinch at the pumps but its every where. Until it gets under control we are all going to have hard times. Our economy can not keep up with this rising cost and eventually the bottom will drop out. If it has not already dropped out..............What do you think?
I want to ride my bike to work but am afraid to do so. You see the death/injury toll in Victoria to pedestrians and bicyclist is way to high to attempt such a task. I was wondering how I can suggest that Victoria look into putting bicycle lanes. I lived in a community that had those lanes and the fear of riding a bike was less. I want to change Victoria for the better. By doing this Victoria can do its part with conservation of gas, reduction of pollution, and this can lead to a healthier community. What do you think?
This weekend many of you spent time with your mothers. I was at the cemetery visiting my mother. You see she died in 2002 of cancer. I want to tell you what made my mom so special to me and my entire family. My mom was a very colorful person and I mean that literarly. She wore some of the most bright and colorful outfits and made it work for her. She had a heart that was kind and considerate. She was there for you when you needed her, even if you did not think you needed her at the time. She had a vibrant spirit and astounded the doctors up until the time of her death. She loved deep and it was pure. She could be head strong and stubborn. I was the only daughter she had. She and I were the best of friends and I shared everything with my mom. You see my mom and I were born in November. She was born on November 8th and I was born on the 20th. We celebrated our birthdays together on the 14th of November. Exactly six days from her birthday and six days before mine. It was our official day. My mom found out that she had cancer in May of 2002. She died in my arms as I cried and told her I loved her on November 14, 2002 our special day we spent celebrating life together. I do not believe anyone ever realized what that did to me. My mother was Marcia Elaine Muehlstein and not a day goes by that I don't miss her. So when you seen your mom this weekend you realized that life is special and so is she.
