City Garbage Pick Up !!!!!!!!!
The garbage disposal service has declined severely! I believe if the City is going to cut cost  then they need to cut the price we are paying for the service. We use to get our trash picked up twice a week. We could throw away boxes and items that do not fit in the trash can and the city crew would pick it up. Now they only pick up that big can and that is it. The service we receive is sub-par our whole neighborhood is very unhappy with the way things have changed. We now have to haul anything extra to the landfill and pay a disposal fee. I understand that metropolitan area's like Houston, Austin, and San Antonio have been doing this for a long time but they also have the higher paying jobs and better resources than we do here. Victoria has higher rental houses than larger cities and lower paying jobs. Victoria really needs to fix what is broke not change what works................

People who live outside the city limits have private trash pickup once a week.  BUT those people have huge trash bins.  I don't know if they had to pay for them, but they are nearly twice the size the city expects us to use.  Yes, they will rent you an extra bin for $5 per month, that's $60 per year.  I'm sure I can purchase a second one for less.  Sounds like a lot of greed to me.

This whole program is costing jobs and pretty soon the dumpsters behind stores will be overflowing with the trash we can't get into that one bin.  Victoria will not be beautiful when all that trash starts blowing through the streets.

WOW! i had no idea we had the option of paying for another one. But why should anyone have to? Did the city not take into consideration how many people can live in one household? The more people in a home the more trash they must dispose of. I think a survey should have been done to determine how many bins each individual household needs. In my case it is just my son and myself but i have a small apartment behind my home. So my tenant and i must share this trash can. Also, i saw these bins even outside of abandoned homes! SO if you need an extra bin just hit up one of those houses.

I am with you... I feel they should still pickup twice a week. I know they won't cut our bill since they went to one pickup per week. Give me a break, it's hard to get all your garbage in that box. Heaven forbid you have a birthday party at your house, what do you do with that trash??? Has anyone thought of Christmas time? I know I am not the only one with bags in my front lawn on that day. Yes, I could get the extra box for a small fee, but I think they should still come twice a week.

By the way, where are the workers who used to pick up the trash? Did the City take care of them? Are they in a witness protection program?
