TexasMom, So far as the "ten" go, we are nearing completion of a final draft of the petition for fling, We want to be able to file it sometime in the first half of May. But we are just ordinary people who have lives and jobs not related to legal work so you must bear with us that this is not a rush job. I am hoping we will have something soon. As far as the DA goes.... Well, as I mentioned in my Blog, Tyler has not lived up to his end of the Mediation and has continuously been sending notice of Officers court appearances with little to no warning as well as requested large numbers of officers all on the same day. Since the Mediation, It seems the whole of Victoria (including the Advocate) has bought into the Lie that with Mediation over, everything is Hunky Dory and back to Normal. Everyone has conveniently forgotten the fact that Tyler was a problem and the trouble between him and Law enforcement started LOOONNG before the Affidavit cropped its ugly head. Since the Affidavit, Tyler has still been doing his thing , just now under the Advocate's (and by extension the Public's) radar. He has been making a strong effort to negate what is known of our complaints against him, hence the recent rash of high profile cases going to heavy sentences. There is rumor via several people I have spoken with, of a storm that is brewing concerning the DA's office. I don't have a lot of details but I think it may have to do with Forfeiture Money. Forfeiture Money is money that's seized from drug busts. (Like that idiot who had "his wife's tax return" while driving his Stolen mothers car) In most counties here in Texas, the vast majority of Forfeiture money goes back to whichever agency did the drug bust. A small amount is kept by the DA's Office. It is the DA's office that is charged with handling the distribution of those funds. This money that is given back to the various departments are used to purchase better equipment for those on the "sharp end of the stick" of law enforcement. Better Patrol cars, radios, bullet proof vests, in-car cameras. better training classes and ranges, whatever the departments need. The DA's office is mostly just filing paperwork. not a huge overhead equipment-wise, as compared to the Enforcement agencies. Yet here in Victoria County, the Law Enforcement Agencies are barely seeing a trickle of these seized funds. Tyler in his infinite wisdom {::snicker::} has decided that they don't need the money. So he keeps it. If the amount of funds seized on a given bust is less than a certain amount then Tyler won't even bother to split it at all and DOES keep it 100%. The problem.. is that the "certain amount" is high enough to cover the vast majority of all seized busts. meaning Tyler DOES keep almost 100% of all monies. What exactly is Tyler doing with all this money? don't know I spoke with someone who mentioned to me that the DA's office has one of the smallest budgets in the county, that they have a hard time keeping their equipment serviceable, their vehicles running. On the surface this would seem that yes, the DA's office needs some of that money. Except that their equipment problems are STILL an ONGOING problem so apparently the money is NOT going to the DA's office. Where IS that money going? That is a VERY GOOD Question Maybe the Advocate's crack investigative reporters can track that one down for us? after all, once that money is seized, it falls under public scrutiny and accountability as to where it goes and how it's spent.
Just to reiterate, Don't Worry Texas Mom, We ARE still working on the petition, it is just a very tedious process to make sure we have done it right, otherwise it would be a waste of time to submit something not ready and get it rejected out of hand. Also there is the practical matter of we all have lives and jobs outside of trying to remove Tyler from office. I myself have a job that is about 45 miles (one way) from home, and I just started a special project that requires 12 hour shifts 7 days a week (no days off) for the next 30 or so days. So I doubt I personally will have much input in the finalizing of the petition though I will try to get with the others when we do get a finished item. I for one will be putting my name to it. as will others. we only need one.
