Hello texson1986 This might be a moot point because Ron Paul has a very, very slim of getting elected president, money and support stands in his way. I do applaud him, and I really think he just might upset the apple cart In So far it looks like those Independents will vote in the Democratic primary. It would be very dangerous to just march out of Troops, equipment and combat troops, our general’s say would take up to 10 months to make an orderly withdraw. To do everything Ron Paul wants, he needs congressional support. I do not think he has that. It’s a long shot at best IMO. But I love it when he makes all his points at the GOP debates. As a Democrat I will vote for him in the upcoming election because I like a lot of his foreign policy message but I know he will vote NO on most of the issues I am interested in. Besides the Dem’s cannot find a strong enough candidate to defeat him, especially after all the cash he raised in this primary. IMO that was his intention. posted by

I thought I would address your points. Dr. Paul has made it very clear that he is not just going to do away with all of these things in one fail swoop by necessity there will be a transition period. As far as leaving Iraq precipitously goes we just marched in we should just march out! The Bush administration has repeatedly said we will stay there until there is a stable democracy in place. I think Hillary Clinton will be centerfold in Hustler before that day comes. The way we would return to the Gold standard is during the transition period we would have competing currency. I mean you do realize that the current fiat money system is counterfeit paper money masquerading as real money? I think the Federal Reserve Act is one of the worst pieces of policy to ever come out of Washington. It ranks right up there with the Patriot act and Row V Wade. Truth be told it is worse than both of them put together. Doing away with the IRS would be the easiest of things to do. In fact if we lived within the bounds of the Constitution there would be no need for a federal tax on wages or salaries at all. This country did just fine for over 200 years without a federal income tax. I however believe that Dr. Paul has said that he would be willing to except the FAIRTAX as a compromise. The "essential" functions of the CIA would not only be continued in a Paul administration, but they would be enhanced. Dr. Paul's concern about the CIA is for tool many years they have been allowed to meddle in the internal affairs of other countries. The unintended consequences of this is blowback. The other agencies would also be dealt with in a prudent manner. Harold posted by

I do agree with Ron Paul’s message but I have trouble with his solutions. The reasons: 1)We cannot withdraw precipitously from 2) We are going back on the gold standard 3)We are not going to get rid of the IRS,CIA,NEA, FBI or the Federal Reserve But I do think he is man of principle and a straight shooter. I am not new to Ron Paul’s message because I read his weekly column and have seen his just about all his campaign appearances on television.
