Helpful government
Government from local to national is deciding what is "best" for us. California wants to put remote control thermostats in homes because the government knows best. California has decided that children cannot be home schooled unless the parent has a teaching certificate because the government knows best. Mississippi has a bill pending in the legislature that fat people (as defined by the state) cannot be served in restaurants because the government knows best. Texas tells people they cannot play eight liner machines that pay out too much because the government knows best. The United States government tells us what time it is because the government knows best. I'm tired of the government telling me what is best. I want to return to the days when I was allowed to decide for myself what is best.

Kids in need of discipline

I just got back from a miserable lunch.  I like to go to the Incredible Pizza restaurant on Tuesdays for old timers day.  An all you can eat buffet and drinks for a very reasonable price.  It's a wonderful place with music I grew up with.  Great for lunch.

Today, however, the place was overrun with a bunch of kids, all about three feet tall who were at full volume and full speed.  I guess it was a school bunch as they were mostly about the same size and there were several "adults" with them.  The adults weren't supervising, though.  They were just eating.  The kids were running and yelling and shreiking and the adults just kept on eating.

With apologies to Jack Webb in The D.I.  "You people ain't even a mob.  A mob has a leader.  You people are a herd."

I'll continue to go to old timers day, but I sure hope the kids aren't there next time.  If they are, I hope somebody has taught them how to behave in public places.

My favorite song as a child was, "Funiculi Funicula." Hearing it now makes me think back to the days of my red SHOW AND TELL.  Remember those?  It was a little television-record player.  The records (stories) came with little film strips.  You could watch the slide show as the record told the story.  On the B side of every record was a piece of classical music or some song like, "Funiculi Funicula."  I never even knew what it meant, but I loved it anyway.  (If you left the film strip in too long you got to watch the moon rise.)

darlins64:  Yeah, I DO think the ones three feet tall are bad and no, thank you.  I wouldn't want to live with a 17 y/o with a smart mouth.  THAT'S why we had a dog!  Much better behaved than most kids I know.

victorianbybirth:  God needs to turn down the volume on the music he sends in the form of those little monsters.

Rebecca:  I go to Incredibe Pizza on Tuesdays because I like the price of the old timers buffet and the music I grew up with and the fact that I can get in, eat and get out and back to work in an hour.  I really am not interested in listening to the music Italians grew up with.

Incredible Pizza overrun with wild and crazy kids - no way!  (Not even the children go there for the food, you know.)  Try Johnny Carino's or Olive Garden.  I had the most wonderful peaceful lunch today at Johnny Carino's while listening to the music that maybe Italian folks grew up listening to?

All children are beautiful who behave like angels.  Those shrieks you hear are music sent from God.  Children were born to run free & explore, how dare you think they should sit & be quiet!  Soon you people who feel that way will all be dead, but not soon enough.

Ok  enough of that, I must go throw up now.

PS  Please don't slip on the dripping sarcasm!

People don't discipline their children anymore because they are afraid the kids won't "love" them.  If you think the ones who are 3 feet tall are bad, try living with a 17 y/o with a smart mouth!

Now now, you know you cannot discipline a child nowadays. It might hurt their feelings.

This country has become a terrible place in the world the past 250 years run by people who were disciplined.
