Does Tyler have ambitions
I'm thinking that our district attorney has plans to parlay these indictments of top city officials into convictions that will launch a run at perhaps the state Attorney General's office and then maybe the governor's mansion. He's licking his chops at the thought of bring down the political and law enforcement leadership of Victoria. I would have thought there was enough real crime in this county to keep him busy, but I guess fighting gangs and busting junkies won't provide the publicity he needs for state wide office. He needs some high profile heads to roll

Scorpio...Yeah, it was the grand jury that handed down the indictments but only after seeing and hearing what Tyler presented to them and NOTHING ELSE. Because of the way the grand jury system works, the DA can get your grandmother indicted for making lumpy mashed potatoes. The grand jury looks at the evidence presented and decides if a person might have committed a crime. Since the DA decides what evidence they hear and the defense isn't even allowed inside the room, of course the grand jury brings back indictments more than 90% of the time. This is all on the DA's shoulders. He sought the indictments and presented to the grand jury only what he wanted them to see.

I see that the good ole boy system is still strong. One day that sort of system will not rule these small towns but today it seems strong. I do believe that everyone is giving Tyler a bad shake all he did was present evidence its our peers they have indited the good ole boys NOT TYLER so look at that first......

Sorry, Windy. But you're smoking crack, or smelling crack. Tyler is one and done in this community. And unlikely to be able to return to private practice, regardless of convictions or not. Too many long time sore losers, or just losers to let that happen.

If only everyone who has ever been indicted received such scrutiny and sympathy as these people, there would be a lot fewer people than the 1 in a 100 of our total population in prison. No innocent person should ever be indicted, much less convicted and sent to prison, but the evidence is overwhelming that it happens every day. But then again, those individuals indicted and convicted did not get the celebrity attention and representation this case is receiving. Like a mantra around here I have heard people say, "if they didn't do this crime they probably did another they weren't charged it, so it's justice". It's never justice to be indicted or convicted for a crime you did not commit. Let's see what the evidence is here. posted by

I'm feeling fine. I know Tyler couldn't get elected Victoria County outhouse cleaner, but if he can obtain convictions, he'll be known statewide as the man who cleaned up a corrupt county and will be golden in a statewide race. Nobody within 100 miles of the Victoria County courthouse will vote for him because we know him and what he's about, but people in Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso etc won't know he's king jerk. To them, he'll be Mr. Clean with hair and look pretty good. All this is depends on convictions. If juries acquit, then he'll have to hang out a shingle and defend drunk drivers for the rest of his sorry career. If he can get convictions, Austin could be the next step for him.

I place the blame on those who voted for Tyler in the first place. These are the same voters who put Rick Perry in the governor's manison and above all, put Bush in the White House. I think these people shouldn't vote in this upcoming election. posted by
