So I just read an article online from the handy Victoria Advocate website.
There is a petition circling around to give the new high schools the old high school names.
Wha? I don't think consolidation is a good thing, never did, and I was truly suprised when a whole town of people let elected school board members do just that. (But hey, don't blame me, I was raised on MTV and apathy, my generation barely even reads a book, much less registers to vote.)
Before we let everyone off the hook...
Am I the only one around that feels we needed better local news coverage by our local TV stations?
I mean, I had to tune into Houston and San Antonio stations to get info on places a few hours away. Not to mention local weather advisories.
But whenever I switched to our local ABC affiliate, I never even saw a text crawl on the bottom of the screen.
I think it's really sad. We had people in our area with families there, we had people in our region who were fleeing the storm, not to mention...
So I didn't get a chance to update, but I went with the busygamer.com crew to cover the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle. We had tons of fun checking out the new games coming out, demoing everything from Left 4 Dead to Fallout 3, the New Warhammer, Lightsaber Duels, and many more.
We met all sorts of indie gamers, programmers, creators, nerdcore bands... etc.
I blogged about it on www.busygamer.com, and we've been running features this past week on the website, so I won't bore you with it here,...
Case in point. I just got a little package in the mail from Nielson. Apparently I have been selected to participate in a household survey.
To show me they mean business, they have included 2 dollars... American... inside the package.
While I appreciate the sentiment and the bribe, I wonder if I should tell them I dont watch any TV. Broke that addiction about 7 months ago. I save all the money from cable bills to travel, (Came back from Seattle last week!) Why spend life in front of a TV...
I’m getting ready to leave in 2 days to go to Seattle for the PAX convention. I’ll be going with the busygamer.com crew. While I will techinically be “working” don’t feel sorry for me. I’ll be walking around, and getting into all sorts of mischief. Then on the last day, I made sure to tell the site editor I wanted to play tourist.
So in review… there will be videogames… a bunch of drunk gamers from Texas… and me (just a...
I can just picture my hatemail now... but here goes.
Tropic Thunder seems to be under a lot of fire for use of the “R” word. (Retarded)
Special Olympics chairman Tim Shriver and Special Olympian Loretta Claiborne talked about the “Tropic Thunder” controversy on Good Morning America. They find the movie and use of the words offensive. Moviegoers seem to find the controversy overrated.
The weird thing about comedy movies, is that… well it is supposed to be...
This afternoon, legendary soul singer Isaac Hayes was found dead in his home near a treadmill. He was 65.
Even if you are not a soul music fan, you have in some way probably experienced a little Hayes in your life. From his music, to his award winning “Shaft” theme song, to his stint in movies, and even as the character “Chef” in South Park… He was a talent and someone that will be missed.
As the years go by, we lose the greats. A little more and more each...
I'm recruiting people for my "solo" project THE LOVELETTER
It's very different from the Luchadores and it's something I have been doing for a few years now, I started out with just me and a piano, now it's branching out to other sounds. Recent events have convinced me to take this music on the stage (I havent played a Loveletter song on stage in about 4 years)
I wont be doing this project half way... It's something I really care about. I will be booking gigs, getting merch,...
I blame it all on Youtube. There I was.. just sifting through the net bored to tears and I pulled up the popular website to kill some time. And there it was... one of the featured videos on the front page... the robotic band... THE TRONS. I was immediately intrigued by the music, and the fact there was not a human on the video, yet there they were, playing human instruments... I had to find out more, so after some digging on the net, I found a contact to the band's manager (creator) Greg...
Popular photo site “Flikr” is going to partner with “Getty” images in a unique way. Getty is going to search through the photo site and look for pictures that may have some sort of media value. (Think websites, newspapers, magazines, advertisements) Getty will contact the amatuer picture taker and solicit the photog into licensing the picture. The profit of the sale will be divided. (hey you knew there had to be a middle man somewhere)
It was just a few days ago,...
