Record Time
The band hit the studio this weekend. It was a personal experience.
Its important I think, because the older I get, the more I question how much longer I will be rocking out. In a perfect world, I like to think Ill be like the Stones, and play music till I fall apart well into old age. The reality of course, is that I will probably slow down sooner than later. Family, work, and the stress of playing in a young genre will wear me down one day. Not anytime soon hopefully, but its coming I know. Knowing your day will come does something to you. Soon, I just began to realize that everything has to count. Every song, every show, every hand that is shaken by the young fan who heard you for the first time they are so much more important when the ride will stop one day. With that in mind, recording with the band is probably the most important thing we can do. The bands been together about a year. Were strong now, confident, and ready to take on the world. We have a small indie company behind us who shares that confidence in us. The band is old enough to know better, but too young to care, and it shows on some of the shows we have played this past year. I listened to the raw versions we cut already. They sound great. It is surprising to hear everyone on point and focused, and not swirling in the chaos of a live show. No matter how many times I hear it, it is strange to hear my voice played back to me for the first time, especially through a studio quality vocal microphone. Take after take, the band opted not to track the music, and kept our songs in sync with each other by playing live. I guess it might not be as important to some. But to me, it is the equivalent of an Honors Student taking the SATs. This is a testament to what we are doing and feeling right now. It will one day be at the bottom of someones CD stack, or on the top of one persons play list. But for the five of us, its probably one of the most important thing happening to us right now. 0 comments from 0 users
