I got finished watching this cool movie called "Crossroads" that was airing on CMT. Noooo... not the lame Britney Spears movie, it's a movie with that Ralph Macchio kid from "Karate Kid". I like it, because it centers around THE BLUES, and the myth about the crossroads. If you aren't familliar with the Robert Johnson legend, I'll give you a short intro. Robert Johnson goes to the crossroads to make a deal with the devil so he can play blues guitar like a legend.(These days of legend,...

It's that time of year again. The breeze is getting cooler, the leaves are turning, the sky is dulling. Soon my favorite semi holiday will be upon us... Halloween. I love Halloween. It's a chance to be something different than what we usually are. Lets us put our hair down, relax a little, scare each other with some ghost stories about that one house down the street where your best friend's sister's boyfriend's old uncle Charlie saw a ghost... something to give you goosebumps. For a guy...

I have decided to break one of the great rules of blogging, and write about a few things in general that have nothing to do with each other. Topic #1 Took a trip this weekend back to the town of my birth. I don’t visit too often, a few times a year, (actually that’s being pretty liberal with the estimates). It was my grandfather’s birthday. He turned 82, and the chance to celebrate his birthday is a great reason to travel any day. My grandfather is the Patriarch of my...

A good friend of mine, Ken, who has been a great pal over the years is also a recreational bike rider... He wrote this in his personal blog, I thought it brought up some good points, so I got his permission to repost it... See what you guys think... Ken's Blog: "I have never been a fan of Triple D Security. They used to run us off from all the best places to skate. I'm 35 now, so I had long since gotten over those incendiary incidents. Yesterday I had a prescription for Kym's asthma...

Looks like the NBA is making it's players dress a little better with a dress code they must adhere to when making press conferences and appearances when not in game time... NBA Introduces New Dress Code For Players I'm sort of torn here... I mean look, I work in an office during the day, I have to maintain a professional appearance, so I can certainly feel where the management is coming from, let us not forget that the NBA players are being paid unusually large sums of money, and the...

The wife and I bought a new car a couple of weeks ago. I mean brand spankin’ new. Everything was covered in plastic, the car had about 13 miles on the odometer and it has a warranty that I really like. And let’s not forget about the almighty miles per gallon. It looks sharp, drives quiet, and goes a long way using little gas. Fully loaded too, satellite radio, CD player, power everything, automatic rearview mirror dimmer… good little package deal. It makes the trade a...

CHECK THIS OUT: Bush Thanks Soldiers In Rehearsed Talk Yeah... I know... it's just too easy... But C'mon man, did you really think it would be wise to have Allison Barber lead the rehearsals minutes before Ol' W came out... I mean there were cameras everywhere. All this does is damage the validity of the White House (Oxymoron I know) further because now a simple meat and potatoes guy like myself is going to think every interview is staged. Better not let me answer one of his...

It never fails... everytime I turn on the radio in the morning... I hear the same old thing... Grown men talking about gossip. They talk about Tom and Katie, Britney and Kevin, Jessica and Nick... The fact that I even know what's going on with these names is all morning radio's fault. I used to think it was just one local station, however, the other morning in the gym someone had it dialed into a competing radio show, and it was the same thing... Same corny jokes, same talk about...

Our friends, the Delagarza brothers, play in this really neat indie rock band called “The Offal Syndicate”. The missus and I heard that they would be among some other musical acts giving a free performance at the McNamara House Museum, so we decided to go check them out, it had been awhile since we have seen them play live. Apparently, the reason The Offal Syndicate was part of a free concert was that the McNamara House has a new exhibit: “A Century Of Teens”. The exhibit displayed...

Saw in the Grey Beard Loon’s blog an entry about cursive writing slowly becoming extinct among students in school. This fills me with elation. It also fills me with haunting memories of elementary school. When I went to school… By the time they started teaching us how to write, I was already what was considered a “class clown.” I was also born left handed. In the early eighties, a left handed child apparently was considered an abomination and I was repeatedly forced to write with...
