Kazaa’s in court. For those that are not too well versed in the battle of Kazaa, check out this link. Kazza Must Screen Downloads For Copyright Material I admit that I used Kazaa a few years ago. Nothing big, a few downloads to check out new artists, or music acts I couldn’t find in my local stores (that happens a lot). It works a little like this: A bunch of people belong on this network linked by a type of file sharing technology. I can download music, image or video...

This is the first Thanksgiving that my wife and I are celebrating together as a married couple. Up until about a week or two ago, I was sort of wondering how we were going to be handling the Thanksgiving holiday this year (My mom, her mom, or our house) I quickly found out that our stepdaughter would be deciding for the two of us. My stepdaughter is a picky eater. She's five and doesn't eat beef or anything new or unusual looking. She thinks she's some sort of vegetarian. (At 5 she doesn't...

Guitarist Link Wray passed away on November 5th. He was 76 years old. I find this to be a huge bummer because he truly was a pioneer of music. He is called the father of the “power chord” many people claim he invented it, and he may have been the first to use it successfully in popular recordings. His band “Link Ray and the Raymen.” Were pioneers using distortion and feedback. His most popular song, “Rumble” can be heard in movie soundtracks, commercials, and...

Since almost everyone in the advocate blogs seems to be doing this… I guess I will too. 10 random things about me. 10. I want “What Do I care?”- by Johnny Cash played at my funeral 9. My dad is my hero. 8. I don’t consider cover bands to be “real” bands 7. I hate the songs “Margaritaville” and “Hotel California”… I blame all the time spent playing in bars for this. 6. The album “So Much For The Afterglow” by...

There’s a new smoking ban going into effect in Victoria in a few days. It was voted on and passed by your local friends at the city council. I’m sort of torn about it. You see, I don’t smoke. Tried it a couple of times in my rebellious youth. Didn’t take. Growing up with asthma as a child, I admit it wasn’t the smartest thing to do, and the smell the morning after a night of drinking and puffing wasn’t the most attractive thing to wake up to. As a...

When I was younger, I had this plan to take over the world. It was pretty genius for an eight year old (I schemed probably until I was 10) I got myself one of those little maps of the world, and push pinned all the places I would run for election (politics first, then force). The plan was to take over all the little places first, then work my way up to the super powers, then unify them under my one flag. I figured if I started young by writing to overseas politicians, by the time I was able...

There's a neat story coming out of Hillsdale, Michagain. It's about an 18 high school senior named Michael Sessions who decided to run for mayor of his small town as a write in candidate.... the crazy thing is... he won. This is a great example and argument for those who think their vote doesn't count. This kid saved 700 bucks of his own money in a part time job to get signs made, and went door to door to get support, as far as I'm concerned, he earned it. Makes me want to think about my...

Recently, I bought my 5 year old stepdaughter the latest Herbie movie “Herbie: Fully Loaded”. It features the iconic little Volkswagon Beetle, and it also stars the bubbly, cute, teen queen actress of the moment, Lindsey Lohan, who my stepdaughter absolutely thinks is ultra cool .The conversation in the car went something like this: Her: Thank you for my Herbie movie Me: Your welcome. Her: It’s got Lindsey Lohan. Me: You like her? Her: Yes…. I love Lindsey Lohan...

The missus and I went on a family outing this weekend. After a 3 hour drive, we decided to stop and pick up something to eat. Driving with a picky 5 year old, we stopped at one of the few fast food places we knew she would eat something at. It was a Chick-fil-a restaurant, and I was not prepared for the horrors that stood before me.: After a few minutes and our turn to step up to the big menu and cash registers came, I came face to face with one of my biggest adversaries in life. A clown....
