So I was thinking about a blog that fellow Advocate blogger and morning radio host Ash posted sometime recently mentioning musical singer James Blunt. I read it, made a comment about how guys can use singers like James Blunt and John Mayer to their advantage instead of loathing them for bringing down the sheer joy of the masculinity men have as a gender… Then I just sort of forgot about it. Until the other day. I was sitting in my car goin to work, and on a whim tuned into Ash and Co....

Took a little break from the norm yesterday and caught a little bit of the Jazzfest last night in downtown Victoria. I had a really good time, and I’ll tell you why. 1. Jazz- I like jazz. It’s a lot of fun. It’s a genre that can’t really be tied down, has a lot of crossovers. I was first entranced with the music when I heard Nina Simone sing “He Needs Me” and I always had a thing for torch singers ever since. Jazz music is really important for the U.S. It was...

Blender Magazine put out a list of the 50 worst things to happen to music in their May 2006 issue... I'm still laughing about it. Look carefully, we might be guilty of ruining music ourselves. I got this friend, he's probably gonna get fired. You see... he works in the public eye, and he recently used a racial slur during casual conversation to a coworker. They're cool with each other like that, just normal joes, working in a stiff day job, calling each other names and slurs to pass the time. To each other, they see no harm done. The only problem is... a customer heard them, took offense, and complained to their home office. This goes a few ways I suppose. I'm a minority myself....

You are the pride and joy of your mother and I. Today you turn 6, and although I can't wait to read comic books and watch super hero movies with you, a part of me wishes you would stay 5 a little longer so I can still be the only boy in your life. Happy Birthday I love you
