I turned 30 yesterday.
You can spare me the "over the hill" and "old man" jokes however.
I still rock out better than those a decade younger than me.
The only problem is now I guess I can't trust myself.
Hey I got a question for ya...
Why oh why do we continue to kiss Simon Cowell's butt? I know he came up with the idea of "American Idol" and it went on to make bajillions of dollars... but every other show he develops for TV is a cheap copycat of his Idol powerhouse.
All he has to do is put the word "American" in the title... ("American Inventor", "America's Got Talent") and add an uppity british jerk as a judge... and he sells his new show to a network who is not clever enough to break...
Imagine the backlash on this...
So I'm leaving the movie theater last night, driving out of the parking lot, when I am bombarded by dozens of import cars all around me, decked out from their latest purchases off various car magazine catalouges and frequent trips to Autozone for various gaudy decorations. Motors are revved through mufflers and expensive tires are being scorched through the pavement for no reason...
Of course there is a reason... the new "Fast and Furious" movie came out...
I was at the Dallas airport this past week, coming home from an exhuasting conference... when I saw a horrying sight at 4:45 AM. People... as far as I could see... huddled around 5 or 6 computer screens. With only one attendant in sight. Automated flight check in has hit the line, and the line is not moving.
I'm not sure about automated terminals these days. I first noticed them at places like Wal mart and the newer HEB. It's a clever disguise by big business. Everyone wants to fool you...
The band hit the studio this weekend. It was a personal experience.
Its important I think, because the older I get, the more I question how much longer I will be rocking out. In a perfect world, I like to think Ill be like the Stones, and play music till I fall apart well into old age. The reality of course, is that I will probably slow down sooner than later. Family, work, and the stress of playing in a young genre will wear me down one day. Not anytime...
