-I got some responses in the real world when I wrote here “keep your fall festivals” in my last post. I still stand by it though. I think it’s just because I think we are losing touch with great American traditions like going “trick or treating” house to house. I was appalled to learn that some parents (not too much older than me) have never taken their kids out trick or treating. One person told me they always went to the mall. “The Mall”??...

I am personally handling the Candy assessment this year IF I’m home that night, (I may be door to door pillaging with my daughter). If you are keeping the tradition of Trick or Treating alive… (too many people have been trying to stop this awesome tradition for years) here’s what you can expect. Here’s the way it works. If you show up at my door in no costume, you ain’t getting jack. I’m taking your picture, and if someone tries to retaliate, I’m...

I saw an article stating that the Ipod is turning 5 years old. This little device has saved many a boring time. Especially for a music lover like me. Some days, when I am struggling to wake up and drag myself to the gym, the strongest encouragement I have is I get to take my Ipod with me. Yeah there's other MP3 players out there, no denying that... but few hold the awesome storage space that my Ipod video does... And I needed it to when I learned I could have all the Star Wars Movies...

The formative years: I'll never forget the day I got the bug. I was in new to the 4th grade just starting out in a rural school district that was thought to be a better move for my education for the smaller class sizes. There were 13 kids in my whole grade. 8 boys, 5 girls. The teacher thought it would be a good idea for everyone to stand up in front of the class and say what they wanted to be when they grew up. I listened to ol' Jeb talk about how he was going to be a policeman. I...

I sometimes have the habit of mentioning in my blogs, artists passing away who have touched my personal musical upbringing. Now sadly, I type about Freddy Fender. He's important to me, because even though I don't talk about race much (I try to avoid it and look at us all as humans), it is undeniable that Freddy Fender (along with a couple of other artists) broke the genres wide open for many hispanic artists. Country, pop, Tex Mex, he had a hand in it. If you have never heard the "Los...

I read somewhere that the problem with blogs is that they always have to be updated. That’s not a bad thing, but it may be when you are writing something that is constantly read as often as our blogs here on the advocate website. Sad fact is, you’re only as good as your last blog… if that’s the case… I’m about a week overdo. So what’s been happening? Here’s a recap on the last month or so. - I’ve been immersed in comic...

“Lost” had it’s Season Premiere last night. I was happy since to me, this is probably one of the best and original shows on TV in the last few years. Last year, some networks tried to rip them off, but no one can keep an audience hooked quite like “Lost”. (Although “Prisonbreak” and “Heroes” are pretty awesome too.) Here’s some questions and observations that have arisen since last night. (Sorry to non Lost watchers… I guess this...
