This past month, an act of arson was committed at Dudley Elementary. This resulted in the loss of many books. While the school's insurance will be replacing many of the academic materials, the teacher's personal libraries and the almost all of the pleasure reading will not be easily replaced.
Think about it... No Harry Potter, no Hank The Cowdog, No Hardy Boys, or Judy Blume.
No self discovery and certainly adventures will have to be had on video game consoles instead of books.
There...
According to a recent story in the Victoria Advocate...this is a picture of what some people may think is a possible chupacabra.
If that's the case, they need to update the statue of the Ripley's wax museum in San Antonio...
Hey, just because George Lucas wrapped up two sets of Star Wars trilogies doesn't mean he can't still wow us...
Check out the new trailer for the new upcoming Star Wars video game "The Force Unleashed".
To all my friends...
In anticipation of the 30 year anniversary of STAR WARS. (and the fact that I am broke and saving money for my summer trips) I have decided to watch all 6 STAR WARS movies this weekend.
My friends, this is serious business. I fear I may not ever return from such depths of nerdom. If I am forever lost to the beautiful Siren song of the force, If I shall swoon over Princess Leia's slave girl outfit, and if I should jump out my window believing the force will catch...

The Specials "A Message To You Rudy"
This is probably one of my favorite songs of all time. I first heard it when I was a youngin' in high school about 15 years ago and was being integrated into the punk rock/ska subculture.
Even then, the song was before my time.
Besides being a great example of "two tone" ska, the song had great historical signifigance to those involved in the subculture. This was a band, that practically restarted the ska genre in England single...
If you are interested in local acoustic music... you should check out a free performance tommorow night...Ethel Lee Tracy Park behind the mall.

Tiger Army "Cupid's Victim"
I like Tiger Army. I think they are a very underated band, they've been around for years, and yet they aren't more recognized in the mainstream. I guess that's fine though, I think these guys are talented enough to know where they want to go.
They have faster and rougher songs, but I like the way this one captures the singer's melodic voice, not something you see in a lot of psychobilly/punk hybrid bands these days.
I heard about it, but thought it was just a rumour. Punk Planet, one of the best punk rock magazines out for the past 13 years printed out it's final issue. I went to the website and this statement was posted:
"Dear Friends,
As much as it breaks our hearts to write these words, the final issue of Punk Planet is in the post, possibly heading toward you right now. Over the last 80 issues and 13 years, we've covered every aspect of the financially independent, emotionally autonomous, free...
With the summer getting into full swing, I think it is time to mention yet another movie that looks pretty good that is coming up fast on the radar... and that is of course "The Simpsons" which is the perhaps the longest running sitcom based cartoon show of all time.
The website that promotes the movie is very well done... it features games, wallpapers, movie shots, all in an interactive "Springfield" enviornment. You can check it out at...

Plus... you can make...

The Hudson Falcons "Sleep, Drive, Rock And Roll, Repeat"
I've written about the Hudson Falcons before. They are one of my favorite bands, and as luck would have it, they are returning back to Victoria sometime in November. Mark Linskey (who is one of my musical heroes and a good friend) plays with such passion and integrity it's hard not to be sucked in by a live show.
Don't take my word for it. These guys have been everywhere. They've toured the nation several times...
They are burying Captain America in the comic books today. Really. The last issue of Marvel's "Fallen Son" mini series is released today, and in it, is a service for the hero at Arlington National Cemetary.
It may seem silly and childish to many who don't read comic books, but let us all remember that for 66 years, Cap was a hero and an icon who was never questioned in his role of right and wrong. He defended us against nazis, aliens, world eaters, dictators, and unlawful businesses. Surely...
I got to see Transformers the other day. I Loved it. It’s probably the best looking movie this year. It actually succeeds where Spiderman 3 didn’t, in that it made a great comic book movie. Director Michael Bay blends just the right amounts of humor, emotion, and extra action to make the viewer forget they are watching a 2 hour plus movie.
You can all be nerds for a day, and hey that’s all right.
Cons:
Optimus Prime has lips
Pros:
Everything else

Old Crow Medicine Show- "Wagon Wheel"
I first heard this song about a year ago (maybe longer) time bleeds together with timeless sounding songs.
Country music sometimes turns me off. It has become a totally commercial beast the last decade, and quite frankly I'm a little worried when we hear more classically sounding Country with a fiddle and stand up bass being pushed aside and called "Alt- country" or "Americana" as if it belonged in a seperate genre. Then sometimes I...
I grew up in an awesome time during the eighties. We had some cool cartoons, TV shows, and revolutionary toys. I will NEVER forget my first Megatron action figure. I'm sure my parent's won't forget either when it broke a few days later...
If there is any reason to see this movie, you will find it in this totally awesome trailer...
