When you wear a mask for every show your band plays for the last two years, you began to wonder what all the fuss is about... but yes... Happy Halloween...
And now... que THE MISFITS (Coming to Vic in November)
I was watching the comments section for Friday’s band feature on Brazen Altar with interest. I think that after watching 70+ comments go by, it would be OK to put in my two cents.
Old School VICAD blogging tip: Never put in a forum what you can blog yourself. I think the Loon put it best when he referred to his blog like a bar. He can kick anyone out when he needs to.
So… where to begin? I guess I should just tell you all where I stand, and give you my reasons for...
A couple of days ago, one of my guitar players, Josh, left my band The Stout City Luchadores. It’s a tricky situation for me, because my band is so important to me. I’ve been in bands for a long time, and I would be lying badly if it was the first time someone parted ways with me and my merry men. As a matter of fact, I miss the guys I originally started with in my very first band, and I wonder what happened to most of them.
It’s a quest, to find your song. To make...
There is a site that is out to help gamers meet people and network. As a writer for busygamer.com, I got the scoop, (the site is betatesting) but also got the word that I could let you guys know if you're a gamer and want to network with other gamers, maybe join a group, etc to check it out and join... it's sort of like myspace, but for game enthusiasts.
The website is
www.thegamespace.com
There is a neat shoutbox feature that lets you chat immediately, and now that the site is...
You may or may not know about it, (I blogged about it before but the blog vanished when the new website format came out) but the Stout City Luchadores are involved with an online battle of the bands.
If the band gets enough votes, they will be invited to audition to represent their region and go onto other battle of the bands where the road may eventually lead to bigger and better things.
I guess this is important, because so far, no band from Victoria has done it, and well I'd like to...
I'm kind of like that Santa in the mall... I'm not really Optimus Prime I work for him understand?
In order to rev up things for the Transformers Movie DVD, you can go to the official website:
http://www.transformersmovi...
And fill out a little drag and drop questionairre on your friend, and the voice of Optimus Prime will call and give a personalized message to your nerdy friends. Go ahead and prove your the biggest fan of them all! They did this with Sam Jackson's...
Say what you want... but I am seriously thinking about going to Turkeyfest to check out the Chupacabra head on display today. Darn thing gets national attention.
Whether you think it's one thing or not, what kind of monster loving fool would I be if I didn't go see it myself?
If you haven't had the chance, check out the article which appeared today in the M3 section of the Victoria Advocate... (Written by Aprill Brandon) you can also check it online here aat this very site. It features Victoria's very own Stout City Luchadores. (Ok... I'll admit I'm a little biased, I play in the band)

If it interests you to support Victoria's only masked punk rock band on your cell as well feel free to add...
Looking at the Ohio gun incident, I am always interested in the way the media portrays school gunmen. While no one is denying that it is a tragedy and we seriously need to look at what happened so history does not repeat itself ( A lesson we seem to be ignoring). But strangely enough, It's weird how all the "experts" and speculators will look at all the aspects of the troubled kid's life. In this case... the music he listened to and his style of dress.
The fact is, the kid was...
I think my old school vicad blogging peer Mike Austin (Pilot) put it best when he mentioned the new "Myspacce" version of the advocate blogs. For the life of me, I was trying to place what was feeling different to me.about this whole site. When I first became a contributer to the Vicad blogs, quite honestly, I think my introductory email to the online powers that be, was that this would be the closest to a columnist for the Advocate as I would ever get, and I was quite proud when...
I was beggining to get a little worried, because my profile may have changed with this "new" look on this website, but all my old posts were not sticking around. When you've invested a couple of years blogging for a newspaper trying to be a witty citizen journalist... well it kind of worries me that I might have lost some posts.
Don't get me wrong, all my blogs are off the top of my head first draft ramblings. (It shows, grammar errors and my torture of the English language is...
It is a wonderful life, being a writer, it is even better being unpaid because I can actually just type malarkey all day and not have to worry about people firing me. (But boy can they throw things.) I recently have found myself taking on a new task as a contributer to an up and coming website designed for video game lovers who have full time jobs.... (A friend of mine started it, and you know how I love things on the ground floor.)
The fact that I am contributing is strange...
I read somewhere that every writer should have a reference library handy by his or her desk in case they need to look somewhere for inspiration or knowledge. I have done this for years, in fact, my whole private office is my reference library… filled with pictures, toys and books to inspire me…
Just looking at the books’ spines stacked readily by the computer I see:
Writing For Comics With Peter David
The Pocket Muse (this one is handy)
Naruto Vol....
If things go like the polls are indicating, our two big choices for President in the next election could be Clinton or Giuliani.
Greeeaaat. Just what I need, a choice between two people I really don't like.
I read somewhere that we have become a nation of idiots who just put the better looking idiot into office. I guess the question now, is which one is better looking?
Folks, I'm not touching that one. Maybe they need to take the "How Hot Am I" Test on this website.
Hey Britney,
If it's anything we can learn from Jenna Bush, even party girls can grow up to be respected authors
Change is good right? I hope so.
I log in today to check out the blogs, and instead of my usual familiar blog family, I see this buffet of blogs presented before me. Some are new, and quite frankly like any normal person, if it’s new and strange I just don’t like it. (Well at first)
My usual elitist ways at first prompted me to just look for another blog site, but I really like the Advocate, I get a pretty good response some of the time, and it feels really good...
