Every year, in one blog or another... I do like so many others in the blogosphere, and take a look back at the year.
Last year, my resolution was to wear caps. I never wore caps, and started wearing one about 90% of the year. Now, I own about 10 hats but interchange 3 on a regular basis. Not a big deal I know... but when's the last time YOU kept a resolution?
The year has been good. It's had ups and downs. I lost a friend. My brother moved away, and countless other things happened. But good...
The polls closed at midnight Eastern standard time:
Luchadores 49.7%
Powderburn 33..8%
Darkwatrer 9.4%
They still have to "officially" count and calculate all the votes... but I think it is safe to say with almost HALF the total votes coming in for SCL, that we can start packing our bags for a gig in Jan.
I'm not sure what to say. I guess to some, it's just a cheesy contest, and if you look at the odds, we may not make it much farther. I mean, we are the little band tha...
For the 6th straight day in a row... THE LUCHADORES are still in the lead.
It's been a craz y few days. We actually lost the lead around noon yesterday for awhile, but you guys out us back on top... We couldnt have gone this far without you all who voted for us.
TODAY is the last day. It should be the most active for the other bands as they try to rally and get more votes... We need your help today more than ever. Please remember to vote today, or vote for the first time for the STOUT CITY...
Wow... Day 6 and for the 5th straight day in a row, the Stput City Luchadores are in the lead...
As of this posting:
Stout City Luchadores 48%
Powderburn 35%
Darkwater 6%
3 Theory 5%
There is only today and tommorow left. So in two days, the dust will clear, however I am not comfortable yet. I have seen these bands rally during the day as their votes go up randomly. There are hundreds of votes pouring in, so we are asking anyone voting for us to remember to vote today, and if you havent...
Are you kidding me? I wake up today and we have a ten point lead! We are recieving hundreds of votes a day, it's been amazing watching the number slowly climb or drop.
As of this posting...
Luchadores 45%
Powderburn 35%
Why is it such a big deal that we try our best to win the wildcard spot?
LOOK AT THE BANDS WE ARE UP AGAINST
Downsiid: (Winner of Round 2) 1st full length CD got attention of major and indie labels. Radio single continues to get national airplay. Dealing with...
Well it was close yesterday at a few times in the day, we actually lost our lead, but we are at probably the biggest percentage we have ever been at with a breakaway lead sometime last night
As of this posting the standings are
Stout City Luchadores 40.43%
Powderburn 35.89%
Darkwater 10.29%
3 Theory 9.09%
I know some people may be getting tired of our posts... but this is crazy important. We are riding this to the end, we expected it to be close, but never imagined we would be holding...
For the second morning in a row, The Stout City Luchadores continue to hold the lead in online voting for BODOG's BATTLE OF THE BANDS Austin round....
We are up against bands that have toured, sold thousands of units, are nationally sponsored and get National airplay (Austin is a tough market) And yet, this little garage band from Victoria made up of twenty something daytime job having ugly guys in masks is in the lead.
This should make you all proud. We will do our best to put Victoria on...
the link is...

you can check out the graphic as well....
you may need to create a profile (takes a moment) after that you can vote every 24 hours...
right now we are barely in 1st place... (but still 1st.. not bad for a band from Victoria)
Imagine that band's suprise when they woke up this morning and are no longer in the lead because the Luchadores stole that early lead last night!!!
Keep it up vote once a day.... we have 6 days left to win Dallas... We WILL make you proud!
Luchadores 36.22%
Powderburn 27.56%
Darkwater 16.54%
3 Theory 10.24%
vote once every 24 hours and we'll have this on lock!

So, despite probably the best set of the night, the Luchadores did not get picked as one of the top two bands to move on to the next round of Bodog's Battle Of The Bands...
You can read about the night right here on the advocate story (Thanks Aprill)

The cool news is that there is a wildcard slot open through online votes, and online votes is where we have excelled at.
This is a plea. To anyone who wants to take the time out, PLEASE...
Tonight we go to the Bodog Battle Of The Bands 2nd round in Austin. It's been a main theme of my blog lately, because for me it's a pretty big deal. It's a big deal for Victoria too, because quite simply, no other band in Victoria has done it, and no one planned on my little band getting this far.
I never liked music competitions. Still don't. I don't like the idea of a judge telling me my song isn't good enough, or judging my message and my art. But for some reason, due to the indie nature...
Well it's that time again. Round 2... Impress The Judges. The band and I will be going to Austin on Dec 12 to play against the other Austin winners. 12 bands will go in, and 6 will move on to the next round. It's just the next step as we move on to try and become reality TV obscurity.
I'm 31, and I play music so much, sometimes it's a wonder I get anything done at all. It has formed me in my attitudes and thought processes, and I can't move unless there is a song in my head. It's almost...
I didn't go to the Victoria Christmas parade Saturday. I decided to take a little trek up to Galveston and check out Galveston's "Dickens On The Strand" event.
Pretty cool for the most part. People in costume, Guinness on tap about every 300 feet, and impromtu performances.
The food was great (Never knew what a Scotch Egg was till then, now I want the recipe) and did I mention you can get Guinness about every 300 feet or so?
A real treat was to go to the "Treasures of...
