So bear with me while I rationalize this.
The New York Giants made it to the playoffs in a Wildcard spot... and after a few upset wins, they are going to the Superbowl.
Coincidentally, THE STOUT CITY LUCHADORES, barely squeek by in the Bodog Battle Of The Bands as the Wildcard spot for the Semi Regional Finals...
Both events are held the same weekend. Both are going in as underdogs, yet both are going to the big dance.
Just thought that was kinda neat.
Maira Garcia was on San Antonio Living this morning.
Usually she is doing the interviewing, but as of late, she has been doing more and more interviews thanks to her new "Choose Or Lose" assignment from MTV,
Local cable doesnt get San Antonio Living in Vic... but fear not... you can watch her segment at this link:

I'm surrounded by greatness where ever I go...
My sister-in-law, political nerd and good friend, Maira Garcia has been tapped by MTV to be the Texas representative for the 2008 Choose Or Lose campaign MTV is doing.
She just came back from New York after an exhaustive few days of training. It's pretty prestigious, because Mar (as she is affectionately called in this circle of friends) beat out all other Texas Applicants to get this Street Team position..
What's she going to be doing?...
I totally realize I in in enemy territory when I write this (story of my life) but hey, I am a New York Giants fan, and I'm looking foward to this game.
It's weird rooting for a NY team when by all accounts, I should be rooting for a Texas team. (Well I like Houston too.) But honestly, I didn't vote for the last Texan who was up for the big spot in the white house... so I guess this can slide too.
So yes, all season, I sit in my quiet house, with the tiniest TV tuned to the game...
I made a new community for fans and friends of the Stout City Luchadore
With the next round of BODOG BATTLE OF THE BANDS approaching, I need to make sure that the online presence of the band is strong. Especially since the bands that don't win the next round in Dallas will be competing once again for a Wildcard in the next round of regional finals. (And if you guys recall we had a hell of an online battle for that wildcard spot)
This new community is pretty cool though. It's hosted by NING....
We just discovered that we are going to sell tickets for the show on Dec 2. in Dallas.
Being the Wildcard winner, we got a late start and really only have a few weeks to push presale tickets to people who want to come out and support
We wanted to throw a show to raise money ourselves and GIVE them to people who would go, but the venue fell through.
Sometimes I wonder to myself if I can keep going on. It's a lot to do and trying to juggle my family, band and work is a lot, much...
Feb. 2 is coming fast, and with it is the Semi Regional Finals for Bodog's Battle of the bands.
The Stout City Luchadores are going on as the Wildcard winner from the Austin competition. While it could spell all sorts of things for the band to keep winning and moving on... I will say that it was never about money, and it was never about fame or any of that stuff that stupid Nickelback song sings about.
It's always been about me and the other 4 ugly guys standing up and rocking out. Singing...
Ok, I really don't come out and just gush over a book but this one certainly has me singing it's praises...
About a year ago, my sister gave me this book (along with a short stack of others) as a gift for Christmas. I read all the books, but for some reason, always saved this for last despite all the praise and testomonials the cover boasted. I simply didn't want to read a book where a huge amount of the story took place in the middle east (Hey I'm a sci fi guy, so sue me)
So it sat... the...
