Just how many uncertified teachers do we have?
I have three students attending MHS & received two letters this weekend from VISD, that two of their teachers are not highly qualified! I am curious just how many teachers are teaching that are not qualified? Can anyone answer this? How are our kids to get the best education if they are taugh by unqualified teachers. Something needs to be done to get certified & qualified teachers in VISD. I know several teachers were pulled out of retirement but come on we are paying high taxes to VISD, atlease we should have certified & qualified teachers teaching our students!

This has nothing to do with this blog but have you heard any thing about a man jumping from an over pass either yesterday or the day before?

Triplemom.

Related to your problem with the schools and the note home. Are you sure that is a notice that some teachers are on temporary certificates? If this is the case, you should be happy. These would be folks who majored in something other than education (history, zoology, business, etc.) who have, for whatever reason, to teach. They are degreed and educated, but not in the education field. And for that, you should be thankful. Schools of Education turn out degrees like candy, and pay little attention to knowledge. In effect, they teach how to teach. You'll not find a weaker group in our society. They are the ones responsible for the crappy state of public education in this country.
