I am curious just how many teachers are teaching that are not qualified? Can anyone answer this? How are our kids to get the best education if they are taugh by unqualified teachers. Something needs to be done to get certified & qualified teachers in VISD. I know several teachers were pulled out of retirement but come on we are paying high taxes to VISD, atlease we should have certified & qualified teachers teaching our students!

Grass Fire Consuming Thousands Of Acres
A large portion of northeast Goliad County is being evacuated at this hour because of a grass fire that has consumed several thousand acres of land. This fire broke out just after 2:30pm this afternoon near Fannin Road and Tower Road near Schroeder. Winds whipping up to 45 miles per hour and blowing out of the north are pushing the flames towards populated areas. All available fire trucks and equipment, as well as off duy or available volunteer firefighters are being called to help put out this enormous blaze. Further updates will be posted on this website, and full reports coming up on Newscenter 25 at 5pm and 6pm. 2 comments from 2 users

Thank you so much for that post. I am involved with one of those volunteer firemen that went out there without a thought, except for that fire and what it would do, it really made me think especially since my parents live out in that area. Last night when he came over, tired and smelling of smoke..I realized how even more proud of him I am .. and what a wonderful thing he does everytime that pager goes off...which I admit, I use to get upset with, but now, I realize the time and dedication he puts in as a volunteer. posted by
