CHARLIE JAYNES WILL UPHOLD ALL VISD POLICIES

Each district has a policy committee to review policies. These policies are put before the board members twice---in a first and second reading before they are sent to TASB to become a policy in the district. Policies are written to take the guesswork out of the action of district employees and/ or boardmembers. It is the rule book. Charlie Jaynes has always followed the rules and will continue to do so. The "ethics" in the situation should have been discussed in the Policy Committee meeting, then again when it was placed on the board agenda for the first and second reading. When a proposed policy is added to "local school district policy", it has been discussed,  viewed and reviewed multiple times so that a layperson/a teacher, a parent.... does not have to guess upon a course of action to take....much like the "Student Code of Conduct" and the "VISD Employee Handbook".   When boardmembers begin to discount their own policies in the interest of "ethics" I can assure you that parents, students, and teachers will follow suit and apply the "ethics" clause to their situation as well. If board members did not like the policy, they should have sent it back to the policy committee for review.

There is no silver lining here. Policy is black and white....no guessing, no ethics...just the law in VISD. All Board Members and member candidates need to be well-versed in their policy.  I can assure you the Charlie Jaynes is so that he can represent everyone in VISD equally, consistently, and respectfully.

So just why is it that we need TWO people who abstain from voting because they have folks in the employment of VISD?  Arent that just a little stupid?

Good idea maybe I will speak with her.  But the fact is she did NOT vote and I am guessing she used the ethical part of her decision making process

Again just because there is a policy.  The type of law that it falls under allows a board member not to vote.  IT IS NOT BLACK AND WHITE as you suggest or why would there be so many rulings regarding it by the Attorney General !!!

FLIER,

Have you spoken with Dr. DeLos Santos?  You may want to.  The reason she didn't vote had nothing to do with ethics.

Policy is written and approved at the district level to take the guesswork out of "what is right or wrong".   I understand ethics, but the policy is black and white.   And on the issue of abortion....there are some instances where an abortion might be the right choice.  However those decisions are made by the parent....not the doctor.

I am not speaking for Dr. Jaynes, however I know him to be an upstanding citizen and I am 100% positive that he will uphold the law and all VISD policies.  I want to make sure that the truth is known.  VISD has many other motions /issues that come before them.  They vote on compensation packages one time each year.  The distict has a chief financial officer to guide them regarding  fiscal issues...including raises and teacher pay, the board plays a very small role in that process.

Warmore one more thought on the ethics issue, as sometimes  I think the law does allow us to decide issues for ourselves, how we are going to act

It is legal for Dr. Jaynes or any other doctor who delivers babies  in the state of Texas to perform an abortion but does that make it ethical?

Just in case you are not clear on ETICS!

Interesting you are very very well versed on the policy.

However, you cannot ignore the fact that Dr. De Los Santos has not voted on salary issues because her husband is an employee of the district and she CHOSE to do that as have other board members!   Did any board member or the president of our school board question her ethical decision?

By the way don't we use ethics in our decision making, isn't that what the Bible teaches us to do.  Are you suggesting that I or other parents, students and staff would not use ethics/morals in making decision.  Hum very very interesting indeed!

No one is questioning if Charlie Jaynes will follow the rules, but what will he do in this situation, and unless you are Charlie himself you DO NO know that for sure,  do you?

Are you saying that he is going to vote on salaries as it sounds like you are saying he is.  And does he know you are speaking on his behalf?
